Secretary’s Report



The 2014 season saw mixed fortunes for the club. On the adult side the 1st XI
maintained their position in County Division 2 under the captaincy of Jack Cox.
The 2nd XI under Dale Hunter, despite a few ups and downs finished respectably
mid table in Regional Division 2 West. Dale is now standing down as captain and
the club would like to thank him for his commitment to the club. The 3rd XI,
despite occasional struggles to raise sides, fulfilled all its fixtures. It was a very
fertile ground for bringing junior players into adult cricket and thanks to Andy
Syrett for his time and efforts. The mid week side, under Will Wright would, but
for administrative oversights, have achieved promotion.
The younger juniors, managed by Jack Cox and Mark Thomas were winners of the
U9's plate competition. Our U13's side, despite losing a few players, completed
their season. Unfortunately the U15's had to withdraw from their league but the
U17's very much a mixture of ages and talents won the majority of the 5 games
played.
Of great significance was the establishment of the first girls side which played in
the inaugural New Forest Girls League. The ages of the girls ranged from 8 to 15.
They did not win a match but thoroughly enjoyed their season and ran an
experienced Lymington side very close.
The club thanks all its helpers, umpires, groundsmen, tea ladies and officers who
do so much to keep the club going. It would just be nice to see a few more of the

adult players turning up to club functions and helping at the days allocated to
improving our facilities.
The club hopes, this Spring, to attain Club Mark status and is indebted to Neal
Williams for the hard work he has put into the administration needed.
In conclusion, the club continues to thrive but, with a little more help and
commitment it could grow and become more successful.
Treasurer’s Report

A copy of the year end accounts were shown, which showed the club had made a
small profit of £46.00.
96 players registered (up on last year)
85.04% expected match fees recovered, down from 91.12% last year. Some of the
amount was due to teams playing short of players. The majority of teams paid
more match fees than the cost of putting on the matches
The monies from other events, quiz, fun run and Ladies night subsidise the playing
of cricket, which is the ethics of this family village cricket club.
We need to ensure we receive monies this year without fail from registration,
indoor net training money and match fees
The accounts deposit account is £1275.00. The treasurer recommended that the
match fees remained the same but to increase the registration fee to £20.00 per
person. Unfortunately this could not be done as some registration fees have
already been paid for 2015.
W Wright confirmed that there is match fees owing from the Wednesday night
side.
Registration fee to remain the same at
£15.00
Adults in adult matches
£7.00
Under 18's playing in adult matches
£3.50
Students in full time education playing in adult matches
£4.00
Under 18's playing in junior matches
£3.00
The charges need to be added to the Managers Pack
The player who supplies the sandwiches will now need to pay their match fee.
The Captains need to ensure that everyone pays match fees. If a player does not
pay two weeks in a row they cannot be picked for the next match. the money
needs to be received by the Treasurer.
It was suggested that there was a designated 'money collector' in each team.
The adoption of the accounts was proposed by S Thomas and seconded by A
Syrett, vote for formal accounts adoption was unanimous.
Coaches' Captains' Reports 2014
Under 9's ( M Thomas)
Won 2 games in the season including the plate cup.
Under 13's (R Goodall)
No report.
Under 15's (A Syrett)
Withdrew from the league after one game. So players moved up to the U17's.
Under 17's ( D Lay)
Due to adverse weather and other factors, this side played only 5 fixtures in 2014. the side
was mixed in terms of age and gender, but an excellent opening partnership usually saw
the side post a competitive total when batting first. Importantly it provided an opportunity
for the U15's to continue playing junior cricket.
A number of players bid farewell to junior cricket, including Ed Wright and George Bratt
who are both now established members of the adult 1st XI.
The club will again run an U17's aside this summer which will continue to provide every
opportunity for the older juniors to continue playing junior cricket. D Lay thanked Mike
Manley for umpiring for the side whenever he could.
Girls (D Lay)
2014 was a landmark season for the club which saw the establishment of the first girls
side which played in the inaugural New Forest Girls League. Bransgore has a proud
history of encouraging girls to play cricket, but this was the first year that the club had run
a girls side. The girls ranged in age from 8 to 15.
One member of the side, Bekah White, played a number of games for the adult 3rd XI and
in the final match of the season took a wicket!
The Club will again run a girls side this summer and will continue to provide every
opportunity for young ladies to prosper within the club.
D Lay thanked Geoff Angel for his help with transport and scoring and to Jacque Lay for
ensuring that at least one adult lady was present at each fixture.
1st XI
Good year and came in the top half in the league. George Bratt scored the only century of
the season.
2nd XI (D Hunter)
Won 5 and lost 7, ended up mid table.
3rd XI (A Syrett)
Played all the games weather permitting. Won 1 game but could have won more.
Midweek
Played every game and just missed out on promotion.
Child Welfare
 For a second year the whole club training night on Monday's was a success. With
a central registration point coaches were able to look after their squads from the
start of the session and we could also have an overview of where extra help was
required and move adults accordingly. Splitting the U11 age group into two ability
groups helped all the children to progress. We are lucky to have three level 2
coaches and two level 1 coaches available to work with this group.
 Thanks to Lisa Mitchell for helping Jacque Lay on Monday nights.
 With the girls team playing their first matches on Tuesday evenings this year, it is
important to ensure there is a lady available to help at the matches as some of the
squad is still quite young. Hopefully we will be able to get a rota up.

Registration - Please remember we need all registration forms completed to
ensure we have contact and medical details up to date. Part of the charge covers
insurance.
Club Mark
 Everything has been given to Simon Jones who will look over it. He will then
come down to a training session and then make a few suggestions and then come
back for a return visit.
