Frequently Asked Questions Q: First things first, when and where is everything happening? A: This weekend at Whitinsville Christian School! Friday – 7pm: Varsity Volleyball Game -WCS Gym Saturday – 8:30am: Homecoming 5k* – Start and finish on the WCS Track 9am-2pm: Carnival & Family Fun Fair* with Mainstage performances & barbeque lunch – Lower Soccer Field (Behind the school – park on the side of the building) 11am: Girl’s Varsity Soccer Game - Upper Soccer Field 1:30pm: Boy’s Varsity Soccer Game – Upper Soccer Field Q: A Homecoming 5k? Where can I register? A: For more information and to pre-register, visit www.whitinsvillechristian.org/Homecoming5k; OR come early (starting at 7am) and register the day of! With T-shirts given to the first 200 registered, prizes for top 3 female/male finishers, and medals to top finishers in each age bracket on a fast, flat, out-and-back course through Whitinsville – this is a race that is sure to bring fun for the whole family! Prizes/medals to be presented on Mainstage at the Carnival! (Professional chip timing provided.) Q: What is the Carnival and Family Fun Fair? A: A time of (affordable!) fun for the whole family that you (and your children!) won’t want to miss! There will be a bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, Velcro wall, bungee run, and games & prizes for the whole family! Particularly fun for all – have a chance to send Mr. Bajema (Men’s Varsity Basketball Head Coach), Ms. Sonia (Stepping Stone Preschool Director) or Mrs. VandenAkker (Elementary PE Teacher) swimming in the dunk tank! Q: Just how “affordable” are you talking? A: At just 20 cents per ticket, your student will be able to play everything once for under $4 per student. Suggested number of tickets to keep the children busy? 25 tickets each (total cost of $5 each). Do you have more than two school-aged students (ages 3-18) that are looking to you for spending money, and are you afraid of going broke? Ask at the ticket booth for the “Family Cap” option: for $10, get 25 tickets for each child! (“Family Cap” is available for immediate family members only. Thank you for utilizing this option responsibly, such that we can continue to offer it in future years!) * Indicates that there is some cost to families involved. Please note that all prices set to directly defray event costs. Q: Games are great, but they are not really my thing. What else is there for adults to do during the Carnival? A: Peruse the works and wares of a number of our WCS family vendors (Note: this is in lieu of the former ‘Holiday Fair,’ and vendors include Treasure’s Thrift Store, local honey, and multiple artisans of different modalities ) and enjoy the music from alumni group “Blue Light Bandits” on Mainstage (from 9:30-11:30), as well as musical presentations from current students and faculty (11:30-1:30). Also, don’t forget to cheer on our Varsity athletes as they compete in Soccer matches on the upper soccer field! Q: Will there be any food available? A: You bet! We will be grilling up lunch from noon to 1:30pm. Get a hamburger, two hot dogs, or turkey patty lunch freshly grilled for $5 per plate. (Likewise to the Carnival Ticket “Family Cap” there is again a $20 Family Cap for lunch!) Also, if you come early, you can purchase fresh, handmade Olliebollen for your midmorning snack (or breakfast?!) from the Bloem’s vendor booth – as always, back by popular demand! Q: This sounds like fun! In fact, I know a few other people who may want to come… is it open to the public? A: Absolutely! ALL EVENTS are open to the public. Please bring your neighbors, friends, family members and more! Q: I am an alumnus of the school. Isn’t ‘Homecoming’ supposed to be a time when I come home to ‘home-sweet-high school’? A: Correct again! If you are an alumnus of WCS, make sure to check in at our welcome tent (located on the corner of the building closest to the play ground) and get a bag full of goodies to show our appreciation for you and your continued involvement in our WCS school family!
