LEVEL 1 – FOUNDATION
LEVEL 2 – GRADES 1/2
Prep’s skills in using computers continue to
develop. All preps can now log on using a generic
password. When learning a new program they
are able to navigate their way around it and are
willing to experiment with the different tools.
This term we will continue to develop their
keyboard skills, learning where the different
letters are and becoming familiar with some of
the function keys, such as backspace, space,
enter and shift. Students will consolidate their
ability in changing the font, size and colour of
text in Microsoft Word and this term will learn
how to insert and format shapes and pictures.
Powerpoint will be introduced, with students
learning how to insert text box, shapes and
pictures and then creating a shape or number
book. Using the Program 2Do It Yourself, Preps
will learn how to create a simple game that they
can play. Students will also be given the
opportunity to explore the Department of
Education and Training website, FUSE. This is a
fabulous website that has a multitude of great
activities to support students’ learning.
It is wonderful to see the confidence and skills of
the Grade 1/ 2 students develop.Students in grades
1 and 2 have continued to develop their touch
typing skills. Once mastered this will be a fantastic
skill that will benefit them throughout their
education, especially in this age of technology. This
term students will revise known tools in Microsoft
Word and be introduced to tools such as cut, copy,
paste, caplocks, highlighting and formatting tools.
They will also learn how to create a table in
Microsoft Word. Publisher will also be revisited
where students we learn about the various
templates that are available. Students will use the
templates to create a card, while at the same time
learning the different tools. Once they have
mastered this, they can choose a template of their
choice. . Using the Program 2Do It Yourself,
students will learn how to create a game that they
can play and share with their peers. Students will
also be given the opportunity to explore the
