Dr. Fehmida Bibi Email: [email protected] KFMRC Position: Assistant Professor Special Infectious Agents Unit Specialty: Microbiology (Bacterial active metabolites) Degree: PhD Brief Bio: Dr. Fehmida has been appointed as Assistant Professor at King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University in Nov 2011. She completed her PhD studies in Molecular Microbiology at Gyeongsang National University, South Korea. Her doctoral research was focused on isolation and identification of novel endophytic bacteria and their antagonistic mechanism to oomycete, production of antimicrobial compounds, identification of gene cluster conferring antimicrobial activity and specific signaling pathways induced during host-pathogen interaction in Arabidopsis. During her PhD she used different techniques like, Western blot, RT-PCR, cloning, GFP tagging of bacteria, Immunofluorescence, Confocal microscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), MTT assay, Flow cytometric analysis and metagenomics. Area(s) of Research: Her research interest is based on four interlinked field i.e. bacterial community analysis, plant bacterial interaction using GFP-tagged endophytic bacteria, bacterial antimicrobial compound isolation, and finally gene cluster analysis coding for antimicrobial compound using metagenomics.
