Junior Pennants Round 6 Update:
Round six of the 2014 Northland Junior Pennant Series was played at Sherwood Park Golf Club on
Sunday 11 May.
The two combined teams Northland/Sherwood and Northland/Pines were first away. It was an
evenly fought contest that eventually finished drawn 2-2 seeing Northland/Pines maintain their
position in the all-important top four. Match number two saw front runners Waipu coming off their
first loss of the season in round five up against Northland who sat on the edge of the top four. Waipu
showed that the previous round was just a small blip with an emphatic 3.5-0.5 win. The final match
of the day was a close contest between Whangaroa and the young Mangawhai team. Whangaroa
eventually prevailed 2.5-1.5 to stay a half point ahead of Waipu in the overall standing heading into
the final round next week.
The seventh and final round robin matches will be played at Mangawhai Golf Club on Sunday 18
May. The first tee time is 10.30am.
The draw sees home team Mangawhai against Northland/Sherwood, Waipu take on
Northland/Pines and Northland go up against Whangarei.
Whangaroa have the bye in round seven.
