ShotgunHeads Up- (assuming this is the same as Heads Up 7 Up, not the
phone version)Seven students stand in front of the rest of the group, and
the rest put their head down on their desk. The seven students move around
the class and touch one student, who then puts their thumb up. Once the
seven students have returned to the front they say ‘Heads up seven up!’,
then the students with their thumbs up try to guess who touched them. If
they guess right they get to switch places and move to the front of the
room.
SafariIn my Basket- Everyone sits in a circle, and one player starts with “In my
basket, I packed…”. The next person must say what the person before them
packed and add an additional item, with each student repeating and adding
an item. The final person has to try to recite everything in the basket from
the entire circle and add their last item.
Common Ground- Split students into teams and let them know they will
have a designated amount of time. Their goal is to come up with a list as
long as possible of the things they have in common, whoever can think of
the most things wins!
Animal Alphabet- With everyone sitting in a circle, the leader starts by
calling out the name of animal that begins with ‘A’. Continue around the
circle going through the entire alphabet.
Where’s the water bottle? Chain Gang- Have a brief discussion about what students do well and some
of their talents. Ask students to think of 5 (this number can vary based on
group size) things they do well, and then write them on paper strips. Create
a chain by linking the pieces together to demonstrate how the talented each
student is and how their talents can work together.
Cow GameFuse Beads- Use fuse beads and follow packaging instructions to create
crafts with them.
Doubt- Remove the Jokers from a deck of cards and evenly distribute them
among players. Beginning with ace, the first player must lay down any aces
they have. If they do not have any aces or wish to get rid of more cards,
they can bluff. Play continues around the circle with 2, 3, 4, etc. If a player
does not believe that the player has as many cards as they do they can call
‘I doubt it’. If a player is caught in a lie they have to add the entire discard
pile to their own deck, but if a player calls ‘I doubt it’ on a player who is
actually telling the truth, they must take the entire discard pile. The goal of
the game is to get rid of all of all of your cards first.
Garbage- 2 players will need one deck of playing cards, 3 or more players
will need 2 decks. Each player should get 10 cards and keep them face down
without looking, lining them up in 2 rows of 5. The rest of the cards are
placed in the middle. The first player draws a card from the center deck and
place it in the right order for your ten cards (then add the face down card to
the discard pile in the center). From this turn on players can either draw
from the center deck or the discard pile. Kings and Jokers count as wild
cards, and the goal is to line up cards from Ace to 10 before other players
do.
Detective Bingo-
Grounders on Playground- Choose one person to be It, this person should
count to 10 or 15 so all other players can get to a good starting point. When
the person who is It has finished counting, they have to walk around with
their eyes closed and periodically (about every 15 seconds) yell out
‘GROUNDERS’, trying to call out when they hear someone on the ground.
Players become It by being tagged while they are on the ground.
Future Building Design- Students can use art supplies (either paper and
drawing/painting supplies or more complex supplies) to create a future
building from their imagination.
