The Bank supports three channels to market; namely the Rural Bank and Rural Finance value propositions
distributed via our proprietary sales force and the Rural Bank brand distributed within the Elders
environment. The Bank also provides a rural suite of lending products for the Bendigo Community Bank
branch network.
Division/department overview
Treasury team is responsible for the management of the Bank’s capital, funding and liquidity, balance
sheet and interest rate risk whilst also ensuring the Bank’s relevant regulatory and compliance obligations
are met. Finance is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information and financial
services that meet our customer’s requirements while ensuring the integrity and compliance of the Bank’s
financial reporting systems to meet both internal management and external legislative requirements.
Through a team located in Adelaide and Bendigo, the Finance & Treasury works with our internal business
partners at Rural Bank, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, and Rural Finance, and with our external business
partners at Elders Rural Services as well as the Broker network to provide quality information to engage,
support and assist all stakeholders.
Part A: Job Specification
Job purpose
Reporting to the Senior Treasury Analyst, the role of Analyst is a varied one, and will be required to
assist with a variety of tasks to provide support to the Finance and Treasury functions conducted within
the Bendigo View St. Office. The Analyst will assist with preparation of monthly management reporting,
reconciliations, and other general accounting tasks, whilst also supporting the Senior Treasury Analyst
with interest rate and margin management, and other duties as required.

Reporting & Relationships
Finance & Treasury works with our internal business partners at Rural Bank, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank,
and Rural Finance, and with our external business partners at Elders Rural Services as well as the various
broker partners to provide quality information to engage, support and assist stakeholders to make informed
decisions.

Accountability
Assist with timely delivery of monthly management reporting to the
Executive.
Assist with preparation of finance and treasury reports for Rural Finance and
Rural Bank as required.
Assist with undertaking special management accounting projects as
requested, for example financial modelling to analyse financial performance
and provide trend analysis reporting.
Assist with the reporting on progress against budget on a monthly and
annual basis to monitor performance against budget.
Reconciliations
Assist with the completion of daily bank reconciliations ensuring
unreconciled items are kept to a minimum and resolved in a timely manner.
Assist with the maintenance of the General Ledger for Rural Finance
ensuring accounts are kept in balance and reconciled.
Interest Rate Management
Assist the Senior Treasury Analyst with monitoring interest rates and cost of
funds, to ensure appropriate management of net interest margin.
Support the Senior Treasury Analyst with ensuring interest rate and pricing
discretions are managed in accordance with policy.
Technical
Assist the Senior Treasury Analyst in maintaining the variables/components
within the Rural Finance ROE model (including interest rates and FTP) to
ensure the Bank earns an appropriate ROE.
Assist the Finance Coordinator with accounts payable and monthly Autopay
dishonour functions as required.
Assist with the monitoring and preparation of the daily cash flow as required.
Ensure the effective use of accounting software by Finance & Treasury and
business units.
Invoicing
Prepare reporting and invoicing as required to Government Departments
and other stakeholders.
Tax
Assist in the preparation of monthly GST and BAS information for Rural
Finance and provide to the BEN tax team. In respect to Fringe Benefits Tax,
ensure Rural Finance maintains appropriate records and provide information
to the BEN tax team as required.

Part B: Person specification (minimum requirements)
Qualifications, knowledge and experience





Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or other relevant is desired
Ability to analyse data and make informed, rational decisions
1-2 years’ experience working in a related field
Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Prudential Standards
An understanding of rural Australia and rural industries
Technical and business skills






Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to cope with pressure and to handle a number of tasks simultaneously
Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities
Time management and prioritisation skills
Sound oral and written communication skills
Ability to take initiative, build relationships and work effectively in an environment where your leader, team
