OPPOSING COACHES DURING GAME PLAY.

CLEARING - Basics
•
Break out with your head up.
•
Listen to the Goalie (“Clear” or “Break”)
•
Talk to each other. (“They’re on me”, “Across” and “Here’s
your help”)
•
LSM gets to sideline quickly or Ready to retreat to hole.
•
Be Patient.
•
Goalie has options
CLEARING -Goalie
•
Speak Loud (“Clear” or “Break”)
•
Have to direct the defense (“Cross” or “Up”)
•
Never outlet toward the box
•
If the offense Hard ride? (Free clear, 4 and around, outlet
quickly)
•
If the offense soft ride? (Walk the ball up/Look for the 2 v 1)
•
D-Men walk with Goalie. (Easy outlets)
CLEARING - Progression
Phase 1 – Goalie hits streaking Middies or LSM
Phase 2 – Goalie moves ball to parallel D-Man
Phase 3 – Middle D and Middie cut towards ball side.
Phase 4 – Cross Field to opposite side D-Man
Phase 5 – Opposite Side D-Man carries up field
Phase 6 – Same Side Middies look up and clear. Opposite Middie
back.

“EAGLE” Sub thru Box
•
Middie substitutions . (LSM gets off immediately for offensive middie)
•
Defensive middies support, till all substitutions are made.
•
Players need to focused on the field and on sideline.
•
Always with your line mates. (Established prior to game time)
•
Know the situation.
•
Closest Middie to the sideline comes off first. (Sprint to Sideline)
•
New Middie coming on lets the next middie know to come off.

D-man step off defensive side of field into box
Middie 1 replaces D-Man on Defensive side of field.
Middie 2 on offense sprints to Midfield line.
Once over the line, Middie 2 replace.
Middie 2 sprints to box and is replaced by next offensive
middie.
Once all new offensive player are on, D-man steps back on
field.
