BA in Economics Eco-Business Institution Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz Name of the programme Economics Eco-Business Degree to obtain BA in Economics Eco-Business Duration 6 semesters (3 academic years) Language of instruction English ECTS points 180 Programme description The studies in Economics-Eco-business are meant to answer the demand put forward by entrepreneurs, searching for specialists in economics of environmental protection. These specialists should demonstrate both adequate theoretical knowledge, as well as, practical skills and competences required to operate successfully in the modern economy. Today’s economy, being smarter and more environment-friendly, is strongly oriented, among others, towards sustainable development, implementation of environmental management systems, environmental technologies and eco-innovation, in particular in green economy sectors. The main aim of studies in the field of Economics-Eco-business is to equip graduates with knowledge and skills in environmental economics, enabling them to apply the acquired knowledge in their future professional practice and to undertake employment in various entities and organisations, operating in widely understood business sector, especially in green economy sectors. Furthermore, the studies are meant to prepare a graduate for playing an active role in a community, and pursuing its objectives according to the sustainable development principles. The instruction is also meant to equip the students with knowledge and skills relevant for the study programme, to a large extent by contact with business practice in the domain of green economy sectors. The first cycle studies in Economics-Eco-business represent the practical profile. Under the study programme 64 % of ECTS credit points of the entire programme are allocated to the courses related to practical professional education. The courses included in the programme concentrate to a large extent on practical learning outcomes and thus provide the students with an opportunity to acquire practical skills and to develop attitudes required by the contemporary labour market. The study programme provides that the classes aimed at practical professional training are conducted in real-life situations, characteristic, in particular, of green economy sectors. These courses are organised in a way that enables direct involvement of students in practical assignments and activities of persons equipped with professional experience acquired outside the university, yet relevant to the scope of the courses taught. The charge of 3000 PLN/year applies for Polish and the EU/EFTA citizens. Tuition 2500 EUR/year for students from outside the EU/EFTA, exclusive of an additional 120 EUR charge that covers administrative fee (for students of Polish origin the tuition is reduced by 50%).
