JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Program: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Health Ambassador Program Youth (HAP-Y) Coordinator Full-time, 40 Hour/week Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Center Wellness and Recovery Services Program Manager POSITION, PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: The Health Ambassador Program Youth (HAP-Y) Coordinator will be part of development and delivery a new program dedicated to recruiting youth to participate in trainings focused on various topics focused on mental wellness. The coordinator will be reporting to the Program Manager and will work closely with the team, schools, providers, the community throughout San Mateo County. HAP-Y engages culturally responsive consumers and youth as community change agents, training them to help others. HAP-Y also places a high value on the concept of recovery, instilling hope that with proactive action, people can heal and recover, and achieve optimal wellbeing. Ultimately, we hope to help increase access to behavioral health services (both for formal system and peer-based resources) among impacted youth and adults across the county, and critically, to help reduce the stigma attached to behavioral health concerns, and seeking treatment. Ensure appropriate and positive relationships, utilizing strong collaborative 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. relationships with referral agencies, the community and county providers; Attend county and community meetings supporting program and other community and county partners; Develop outreach strategies and advertisement, including social media; Create posters/brochures and distribute throughout the community; Present to schools, community colleges, faith-based groups, and other organizations; Become a trainer and lead trainings to address mental wellness and stigma reduction; Network with community groups and partner on recruitment efforts Support in planning/attending regular support meetings for youth participants Act as the primary contact for all recruitment questions and inquiries; Organize and track trainings and participation of youth; Administer outcome measures needed to demonstrate effectiveness of program; Work with StarVista on reporting and monitoring of outreach efforts and outcomes, and provide monthly updates Keep data on all inquiries, outreach efforts, and any other recruitment related activities; Provide quarterly reports and work with Manager on reporting and documentation; Uphold professionalism with community agencies and referral sources - maintaining appropriate boundaries. Work closely with the Manager on the creative visioning and development of the program and perform other duties as needed; and Attend staff meetings, training, supervision, and other meetings as required for the position. Ability to complete administrative duties, as assigned by Program Manager. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work independently in the community and or with a team; take initiative, some evenings and weekends required with advanced notice. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum level of education is a BA degree. Experience working with youth a plus. Preference is given to those who are bilingual Spanish and/or bicultural. The employee must have a valid CA Driver’s License, their own car with valid auto insurance. The employee must become 1st Aid and CPR certified (if not already so) and be able to pass a livescan background clearance. SUCCESS FACTORS: 1.
