MHSOBCC - The Quick Single – Round 13

MHSOBCC - The Quick Single – Round 13
The official weekly update from MHSOBCC
1st XI washed out
The MHSOBCC 1st XI didn’t get on the park on Sunday, with the pitch at Scotch
College falling victim to rain earlier in the morning.
The result worked out ok for us, with an Old Xaverians bonus point victory at Old
Melburnians not enough to knock us off top spot. For Old Scotch though, they slipped
to 3rd and now face Old Xaverians away in the semi finals.
Our Semi Final will be against Old Geelong, at MHS on Saturday, starting at 12:30pm.
The Old Geelong side finished 7-3 (plus 3 draws) in the regular season and their 11
features an even mix of players who can all be dangerous on the day. We’ll need to
be right at our best to win our way through to the Grand Final.

2nd XI sneak home
The 2nd XI season picked up a win to finish their season, which has now come to
an end.
Facing Melbourne Uni at home, and chasing a challenging target of 209 to win, we
managed to get home 7 down, with 8 balls remaining. Skipper Tom Rendell was
the pick of the batsman, with an unbeaten 54no to win the match.
The result means that the 2nd XI finish one game (plus some percentage) outside
of the finals. A disappointing result given they occupied a top four spot for a fair
portion of the season.
Thanks go to both Vidhur Rangaswamy and Tom Rendell, who skippered the side
throughout the year.
Under 17s win again
The Under 17s remain top of the SDCCL Sunday Under 17 ladder, following a win over
Maccabi AJAX in a one-dayer on Sunday.
Batting first, we complied 5/98 off our 24 overs, led by 56 to Sachin Halangode and 23
to Charlie Franklyn.
The Maccabi AJAX boys struggled to get Kiran Ravi (0/8 off 4) away early, which
opened the door for the rest of the bowlers to cash in – the opposition eventually
finishing their 24 overs at 9/79.
With a final one-dayer to follow this Sunday, the boys are locked away in top spot and
look set to make a big play at back-to-back flags.
