WELCOME TO SDYFL
 Welcome to our friendly league

 Can we ask that you READ your RULE BOOK, understanding the
rules in advance can save a number of problems later… if you have any
questions about the rules and procedures then please contact anyone
on the committee, they will be glad to help - remember no question is
too silly to ask, it’s just silly not to ask a question.

control barrier in place, ensuring it goes from all along one side of the pitch
(not half way). The barrier should be placed a minimum of 2 (two) metres
away from the pitch side to allow space for throw-ins and for assistant
referees.
Corner flags MUST be a minimum of 5 feet high, not the small poles, and

BAD WEATHER
 The referee is the only person (apart from the grounds person) who can




deem a pitch unplayable. Managers ,parents etc can NOT,
When a referee arrives to check the pitch they MUST check this on their
own, parents and managers etc must stay away and leave them to do their
job.
If during the game the weather conditions get severe then the referee can
abandon the game, again it is solely the referee’s decision.
If the ground is poor and your waiting for the ref, encourage the younger
children to remain in the cars with the parents until the ref says its playable
or not, it saves them getting wet and cold if the game isn’t going ahead.
IF THE SCHOOL CALL OFF THE GROUNDS THEN A LETTER MUST BE
SENT INTO THE LEAGUE FROM THE CARETAKER ETC
BEFORE MATCH KICKS OFF

A registration check MUST be carried out By BOTH teams.
 Swap sets of reg cards, Not Forms. Line all the opposition players up
and say their name and they SHOULD reply back with their D.O.B at
this point check their photo for proof of ID This MUST be done at
EVERY match, even if you the teams have already played each other.

If any team refuses to do a Reg. check please contact your
registration secretary.
 If any team doesn’t have their registration cards, then you must contact
the reg sec for that age, every player from that team must sign and print
their name and put d.o.b. on a MRF or piece of paper before the match
can begin.
FILLING IN THE MRF
 The MRF must be completed BEFORE the game can begin, The Referee
can fill in most of the form before the match begins and the remainder
will be filled in after.
 The referee should be paid prior to the game beginning, (half fee by
both teams) if the referee requests that you pay him/her after that’s fine,
please pay only in notes where possible, as small change isn’t acceptable.
 Please ask both teams if they accept video or photography to go ahead
BEFORE the start of the game.
REFEREE
 The same referee must referee the whole game (the only exception is if
a referee is injured during the course of the game). If a referee is not
appointed or can’t attend then you MUST toss a coin before the game
and decide who will referee the whole game, (each half can not be
refereed by different people).
 Any individual who stands in as a referee has the same powers and
responsibilities as an official referee. He/She can decide about the pitch
condition also .
 Teams CANNOT refuse to play because a qualified referee is not
available. The committee MUST be contacted if this occurs.
HALF TIME AND AFTER THE GAME
 At Half time
 Please think of the ref as well if you sell refreshments, offer the referee
a hot or cold drink too, after all they are running around just like the
children.
 At the End of the game
 Line the children up usually on the half way line so that both teams can
cheer the opponent's and shake hands.
 Please encourage all your players to do this,
 Its nice if they shake hands with the ref as well

the pitch and wait a few seconds until the referee has blown his whistle and calls
him/her back on the play.
When you wish to make subs, please make contact with the ref or the assistant who
can indicate to the ref that a sub is going to take place, the ref will wait until the sub
have been replaced.
DO NOT just change players whilst the game is playing.
