Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth,

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Stations of the Cross
Stations of the Cross
Each year our church sets aside 40 days as a special time we call
Lent. In Lent we try to think of how Jesus carried a heavy cross
and died for us on that cross. Jesus lived more than 30 years on
earth, a human being like you and I, without suffering pain and
sorrow, but, just before He died He suffered terrible pain and
humiliation because He wanted to bring new life to all men and
women.
Ever since Jesus died people have been going to Jerusalem and
walking down the same streets where Jesus walked carrying His
cross. They stop at special places to remember what Jesus
suffered at those places. This is how the Stations of the Cross got
started.
Usually there are 14 stations but some people add a 15th ‘station’ to
remind us that Jesus rose from the dead.
1st Station: Jesus is condemned to death.
‘Dear Jesus please make me brave so I can do what is right even
when it’s hard to do.’
2nd Station: Jesus takes his cross.
‘Dear Jesus help me to be good and kind to others even when it isn’t
easy.’
3rd Station: Jesus falls the first time.
‘Dear Jesus don’t let me be mean to anybody who has been hurt, who
makes mistakes or is different to me.’
4th Station: Jesus meets the mother.
‘Dear Jesus look after me when I am away from someone I love and
help me to do what you want me to do.’
5th Station: Simon helps Jesus carry his cross.
‘Dear Jesus make me strong when I have to do something hard, don’t
let me get somebody else to do the work!’
6th Station: Veronica wipes Jesus’ face.
‘Dear Jesus help me do kind things for other people even if I don’t
get a reward.’
7th Station: Jesus falls the second time.
‘Dear Jesus when I try to do something and mess it up help me to
start again.’
8th Station: Jesus meets the weeping women.
‘Dear Jesus show me how I can help others and make them happy.’
9th Station: Jesus falls the third time.
‘Dear Jesus help me to be kind to everybody because every one of us
needs help sometimes.’
10th Station: Jesus’ clothes are taken away.
‘Dear Jesus keep me strong in the struggle I will have to stay good
and true.’
11th Station: Jesus is nailed to the cross.
‘Dear Jesus when somebody hurts me help me to be forgiving.’
12th Station: Jesus dies on the cross.
‘Dear Jesus let me always understand that you died for me.’
13th Station: Jesus is taken from the cross.
‘Dear Jesus let me be kind and helpful of someone in my family or
someone I know is sad.’
14th Station: Jesus is put into the tomb.
‘Dear Jesus help me to pray even when You don’t seem very near to
me.’
Prayer of St Francis
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred let me sow peace,
Where there is injury let me sow pardon,
Where there is doubt let me sow faith,
Where there is despair let me give hope,
Where there is darkness let me give light,
Where there is sadness let me give joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may
not try to be comforted but to comfort,
not try to be understood but to understand,
not try to be loved but to love,
Because it is in giving that we receive,
it is in forgiving that we are forgiven,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
