1 AP Statistics 2016-2017: Summer Assignment Mr. Kevin Braun ([email protected]) Bishop Dunne Catholic School AP Statistics MAJOR Grade #1: Summer Math Assignment Background The math skills and techniques covered in this assignment are concepts that are absolutely vital for your success in AP Statistics next year. With this summer math practice, you should come to class in August prepared to take a quiz over these skills on the first Red or Blue day of school. If at any point you have questions, please email me at the address above. Do not wait until the last minute. You have 11 weeks to complete this assignment; I will not accept any excuses for late or incomplete work. Students will be using the online mathematics resource Khan Academy to review and practice core concepts used in AP Statistics. As an AP student, this will be my first impression of your effort and skill level for the coming year. If you come to class on the first day without having completed all work on time, you will be recommended for transfer to an on-level math class. Additionally, if you only put forth minimal effort (which includes earning a failing grade or not following all the instructions below), I will conclude that the AP course is not the best fit for you, and you will be recommended for transfer to an appropriate on-level math class. This assignment is meant to expose you to the type of problems you will solve in AP Statistics. While I don’t expect you to work on them every day, I do expect your full effort.
