Congratulations on making the Martino cheer and dance team
for the 2015-2016 school year! We are looking forward to an
exciting season. This packet contains important information as
well as any forms that must be filled out and returned to your
coaches by September 15, 2015. We will be having an informational
meeting for parents and students on Tuesday, September 8th at 4:00
(after practice) in the cafeteria. At this meeting, we will discuss our
schedule and information about the upcoming season.
We are truly looking forward to this year’s season. It seems
like we have a great group of very talented and dedicated girls. We
will have a great time making some lasting memories and
friendships while we are together! Thank you for your cooperation

Cheer and Dance Expectations
1. Gym suits will be worn at all practices. Please wear cheer shoes as well.
2. Practice will start at 3:00 p.m. SHARP. Consistent tardiness will result in a
demerit.
3. You may bring a small healthy snack from home and eat it BEFORE 3:00 p.m.
4. Your hair will be tied back and out of your face at all practices and games.
5. NO jewelry of any kind can be worn during practice and games. To insure your
safety, please do not get your ears or any other part of your body pierced anytime
during the dance season. It is best to wait.
6. Attendance is an extremely important issue for our team. Three or more
unexcused absences from practice/games will result in dismissal from the team.
Please make arrangements with the coaches if you need to be late for practice.
Excused absences follow the school policy. PLEASE make doctor and dentist
appointments during non-practice days.
7. Uniforms include:
a. SCHOOL DAY: spirit wear and jeans
b. GAMES: shell, skirt, body suit, bloomers, white socks, bow, and cheer shoes
8. All students must have a current physical on file in the P.E. office.
9. Students will only cheer and dance at home girls/boys basketball games.
10. Practice/games will typically be two days a week with some exceptions.
11. Students will be excused to go home after the 8th grade halftime, which is usually
by 5:45.
12. During the game, half of the team will cheer for the 7th grade game and the other
half of the team will cheer for the 8th grade game. Students not cheering during a
game will sit in the bleachers (bottom three rows) with our team. During this time
they may watch the game or work on homework. We will also perform during the
halftime of the 7th and 8th grade games (around 4:20 and 5:20). NO CELL PHONES
ARE ALLOWED DURING GAMES.
13. You are able to bring a healthy snack for game days. You will be given time to eat
BEFORE the game. There is NO FOOD or DRINK allowed in the gym aside from
water.
14. Please have your students picked up at the conclusion of practices or games on
time.
**Practices end at 4:00. Games usually end at 5:30-5:45 unless the 7th grade game goes
into overtime. In this case the 8th grade game performance could run past 5:45.
Cheer and Dance Attendance Policy
Attendance is an extremely important issue for our team. The attendance policy is as
follows:
Consistent tardiness to practice/games (2 or more times) will result in a demerit.
4 Demerits- Student will be benched during the next game.
8 Demerits- Student will be removed from the team. These cases will be dealt with on an
individual basis.
Three unexcused absences the student will be removed from the team. These cases will
be dealt with on an individual basis.
*Please make arrangements with the coaches immediately if you need to be late, or if
something comes up otherwise it will be counted as an unexcused absence.
