Assignment Explanations
Attendance and Participation (100)
Because of the nature of this course, attendance and participation are essential
ingredients to the learning experience. Therefore, specific points have been
allocated to meet this need (10 points per session). You will note on your
calendars that you meet with Dr. Foster 10 times over the semester. It should be
noted that each student will begin credit and I don’t count—you loose 10 points
for each absence, regardless of whether or not it was excused. If you miss more
than 3 times, you need to see Dr. Foster.
Meet with the instructor (50)
Schedule a 15-minute visit with Dr. Foster before February 28th. This lets me
get to know you a little better, and gives you an opportunity to ask questions
about the class that you otherwise might not be able to ask.
Lesson Plan Assignment 1 (150)
We will be learning the basics of lesson plan writing and create a common
lesson plan as a class. Don’t panic—you will have everything you need to
complete this assignment!
Lesson Plan Assignment 2 (200)
This assignment will involve a more complete plan to use in a high school
setting.
Bell Work Creation (50)
Bell work is essential for a positive beginning to class. You will develop a
bell work designed to introduce an assigned lesson.
Learning Intelligences Assignment (150)
Just as each individual is unique, so are their learning styles. You will
create a paper on an assigned form of learning intelligence and be
prepared to present your information in class.
Learning Intelligences Presentation (100)
See above.
Final Exam (200)
A final exam including all three sections of this course will be given. For
this section you will be expected to develop a Lesson plan on a specific
topic.
