Teacher asks a question, the child on the left of
the child being asked, answers instead.
Directional Games
Place vocabulary words on the wall and the board
and direct kids by shouting the vocabulary words /
by shouting directions. NSEW
Call me on my Cell
Pretend you are calling the children on their actual
cell numbers. Have a chat over “on the phone”
Hold your fist to your ear.
The other half truth
Each person then tells the group two truths and a
lie, not revealing which is false and which are true.
The group decides which is false
The person then tells them which was false

If I say your name, you say an English word. If I
say that English word, you say your name.
Shine a light
Teacher writes vocabulary words on the board.
Two children are asked a question and the first
child that shines a flashlight on the correct
word wins. Play over and over again
Last Letter – New Word
Students say words in consecutive order. The last
letter of Student A’s word is the first letter of
Student B’s word. e.g. Hat, Telephone, Egg,
I went to the market
In this traditional game, the first person recites, "I
went to market and bought myself a XXX,"
(inserting an item of their choice.) The second
person recites, "I went to market and bought
myself a XXX and a YYY" (adding an item of their
choice.) The game continues with each new
person reciting the previous list before adding their
choice of item.
Three wise men
Three wise men, each with a definition of a
grammar rule or a definition of a word. Two
answers are incorrect and one is the correct
answer. Students must choose the correct answer.
