When we have established possession.Where? Attacking Half.What? Ability to penetrate either individually or as a small group (combination play).Why? To create penetration (goal scoring opportunities). Transition to Attack - Phase 1 - Warm Up 18 Players Balls, Bibs & Cones Intensity: 5 12:00 min (4 x 00:45 min, 00:45 min rest) Small Sided Activity - Possession vs. Penetration 18 Players Balls, Bibs & Cones Intensity: 5 24:00 min (3 x 06:00 min, 02:00 min rest) Coaching Points - First Touch: Can you prepare the ball away from pressure and in a direction that provides either a quick passing option or space to dribble. -Passing: Can you use the inside and outside of the foot to keep the ball. -Dribbling: If there is no passing option, can you dribble out of pressure. -Vision Awareness: Check your shoulders before receiving the ball, know where teammates and defenders are. -Decision in Possession: Keep the ball individually or pass? With either option, execute with speed. Description Coaching Points Pre-control vision, receiving touch body shape, passing weight accuracy, support angles distances, mobility timing angle of runs, support vs. mobility, probing mentality, how and when to change tempo in order to penetrate. Description Area: 60 x 70 yards with a line drawn across the top of the 18 yard area. Defending team (#2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7,#8 #11) sets up in a 4 - 4 shape and defend the line. Defending team score by playing into a target. Attacking team (#2, #3, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10 Transition to Attack - Phase 3 - Expanded Game - 8 v 8 with GK 18 Players Balls, Bibs, Cones, Goals & Flags Intensity: 5 27:00 min (3 x 07:00 min, 02:00 min rest) Coaching Points - Decision upon winning possession: Possess or Penetrate. Try to penetrate first, be aggressive in possession. -Technical speed and execution of decision. -Speed of movement when changing from defending to attacking - can players anticipate a teammate winning the ball back and move into a space quickly to receive the ball? -Movement off the ball - Support, Mobility or Width: Where are the defending team? What is the numbers situation? Should you create space for yourself or a teammate? - Can you exploit the space left by the defending team when they where attacking: Space in behind Transition to Attack - Phase 4 - 9 v 9 Game 18 Players Balls, Bibs, Cones & Goals Intensity: 5 27:00 min (3 x 07:00 min, 02:00 min rest) PAGE 1/1 Coaching Points Description - Individual decision upon winning possession: Penetrate or Possess.
