Lock series GATOR awarded with the „iF product design award
2012“ and nominated for the „German Design Award 2013“!
CARL WITTKOPP presents the awarded fair highlights at the SECURITY 2012
The new lock series GATOR of the traditional company CARL WITTKOPP GmbH
from Velbert was awarded with the „iF product design award 2012“ and currently
with the nomination of the „German Design Award 2012”. With these internationally
renowned design awards the International Forum Design and the German Design
Council appreciates the aesthetic design and the high content of innovation of the
new lock series GATOR from WITTKOPP.
The „iF product design award“ stands since 1953 as a trademark for the award of
good design. As worldwide renowned „seal of good design“ the iF Label honours
exceptional achievements in design and offers herewith a platform, to receive a
professional opinion about the quality of design of own products by an international
jury of experts. In the year 2012, 2.923 products in 16 categories form more than 40
countries applied for the much sough-after trophies.
The German Design Award as successor of the „Designpreis Deutschland“ is
awarded for the second time and honours top-class design products, which are all
pathbreaking in their own way , either in German or international design territory.
GATOR is an innovative high-security lock system for safes and security storage
units, which convinces by its comfort in usability and functionality. The modular
concept that offers a unique product variety of electronic locks for various customer’s
requests, is to be highlighted. GATOR offers flexible combination possibilities of input
unit, software and high-security lock. Fascinating is the clearly arranged user
prompting of the graphical display. Next to these characteristics, GATOR excels by
its classic-elegant design, its high-quality material (metal) and the precise quality
manufacturing – made in Germany.

At the „SECURITY 2012“ in Essen CARL WITTKOPP GmbH will present the new
high-security locks PRIMOR, the locking system FORTRESS (heavy high-security

WITTKOPP will give an overview to the approved portfolio ranging from boltworks
over to mechanical key locks to biometric safe and gun cabinet locking systems.
