• MSC 85 adopted the e-Navigation strategy in 2009
• Definition:
E-Navigation is the harmonized collection, integration, exchange,
presentation and analysis of maritime information onboard and ashore
by electronic means to enhance berth to berth navigation and related
services for safety and security at sea and protection of the marine
environment.

• General framework is in place.
• Missing integration between layers and more detailed implementation
guidelines.

• IMO NAV and FAL, IEC 61162, ISO 28005, ISO 17894.
• Difficult as it has little direct monetary value.
