 Competition Rules • • • • • • • • • • • Fast, fun, social competition for those who want to play Water Polo but don’t have the time to commit to ongoing games and practices. Played in one afternoon (2‐3 ½ hrs) depending on the number of teams entered. Each team will play 3 or 4 games each. Game Length o 2 x 6 minute halves o 3 minute warm up before each game o Games every 20minutes There will be spot prizes – must attend prize giving to receive these Recognition of the winning team at prize giving – team must attend prize giving to receive this This is a mixed gender competition – there must be at least 1 female in the pool at all times Players can’t have participated in any National Water Polo Championship in 2010 or 2011. Teams must have a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 13 – it is recommended to have substitutes as this is a fast game! Balls and caps will be provided Game Points: o Win – 4 points o Draw – 2 points o Lose by 3 or less – 1 point o Lose by 4+ – 0 points SUPER FAST 5’s POWERED BY Basic Game Rules *Standard (FINA) rules apply with the a few adjusted rules indicated in red Teams Substitutes Duration Start of Play Scoring Restart after goal Goal Throw Corner throw Neutral 5 players, (4 field players plus one goalkeeper), plus up to 8 substitutes (13 Total) May enter anywhere in the pool • After goal has been scored • During time out • During quarter break During play a player can exit behind their own goal line and the substitute must enter from the re entry point in the corner of the field of play. The substitute must slip into the water behind the goal line and not push off the pool side. They cannot dive in. 20 minute duration • 3 minute warm up • 2 x 6 minute halves – 12 minutes total game time • 5 minute half time/change over time ‐Referee’s discretion Swim off from goal line Ball must be fully behind the goal line Immediate restart after a goal has been scored. Teams do not have to go on their respective halves and any player can restart the game. Taken by goal keeper anywhere inside 2m (red marker) after ball out behind goal line • Thrown out by attacking team • Deflected by defender (NEW) Corner throws can be shot at goal as long as normal ‘taking of a free throw’ rules have been applied. Taken by attacking team on 2m marker next to the wall after ball out behind goal line • Ball deflected by goalkeeper • Deliberately thrown out by defending team Ball thrown in by referee neutrally between two players (one from each team) after more than one foul SUPER FAST 5’s POWERED BY Free Throw Ordinary foul Exclusion foul Misconduct Brutality Penalty After foul, signalled by the referee – pointing in attacking direction of team throw is awarded to • Must be taken immediately either to another team mate or yourself • Taken at the point of foul or behind • May be shot directly if foul happened outside 5m (yellow market – NEW) Awarded against • Hold on or push off wall during play • Take ball under water in a tackle • To use two hands on the ball (except goalies within 5m area) • Impede or prevent free movement of another player ‘not holding the ball’ • Push off an opponent • To be within oppositions two metre area (red marker) without ball – ‘off site’ • Waste time or delay free throw • Goalkeeper over half way When excluded, players must go into the re‐entry area and touch the side of the pool above the water line (visibly), but can return to the game immediately (no minimum exclusion time). Maximum of 5 exclusion fouls Exclusion fouls are: • Immediately interfere with free thro • Splash an opponent • Hold, sink or pull back opponent • Questioning referees calls • Attempted block with two hands outside 5m (NEW) Exclusion for rest of the game, substitution as per normal exclusion procedure, however the substitute is only allowed to replace the misconduct player once both players have been in the re‐entry area together. • Foul language, violent or persistent foul play, disrespect to officials Exclusion for rest of game, substitution after 4 minutes (NEW), penalty to opposition team • Kick or strike an opponent intentionally or make intent Direct shot from 5 metre (yellow market), taken on referees call without faking • Any major foul inside 5m that prevents probable goal • Goalkeeper hiding ball under water in tackle • Pushing off the wall to stop a shot • Interfering with goal alignment • Attempted block with two hands inside 5m (NEW) SUPER FAST 5’s POWERED BY
