NASHVILLE MTA`s NEW FARE CARDS

How the Farebox Works
If you purchase your fare at the
farebox:
Insert bills and coins in the slots indicated
on the top of the machine. If you are
eligible for a discounted fare, please tell the
driver before placing your money in the new
farebox so you will be charged the correct
fare. The machine accepts $1, $5, $10, and
$20 bills, including the new $20 bill. If you
insert more than the price of the fare, the
farebox will issue a change card with your
balance. Please do not fold or bend the fare
cards. Do not allow them to get wet.

What is an express bus?
An express bus operates with a limited
number of stops. All express routes have
an “X” following the route number on the
bus destination signs, timetables, and the
system map.
Please note: There are no cash refunds on fare cards.

The fareboxes will process the new fare
cards in two ways. For multi-ride passes,
insert the card in the printer box at the top
left corner of the machine. The machine
will return the card to you with the number
of remaining rides printed on the back. For
multi-day passes, activate the card on the
first day of use by inserting it in the printer
box at the top left corner of the machine.
For the remaining days, swipe the card
through the magnetic reader strip at the
top right corner of the machine.
