How the Farebox Works If you purchase your fare at the farebox: Insert bills and coins in the slots indicated on the top of the machine. If you are eligible for a discounted fare, please tell the driver before placing your money in the new farebox so you will be charged the correct fare. The machine accepts $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills, including the new $20 bill. If you insert more than the price of the fare, the farebox will issue a change card with your balance. Please do not fold or bend the fare cards. Do not allow them to get wet.
