PhD Position at Ghent University: The added value of Innovative initiatives in an International Master
programme in the field of Marine Sciences.
Short project description: The PhD student will be actively involved in the organization of the International
Master of Sciences in Marine Biological Resources. This new and innovative Master programme includes a
wide range of educational innovations. The PhD candidate will be active in the organization, the follow-up and
the evaluation of these innovations.
During the first months of the PhD, a more elaborate PhD project proposal will be developed by the candidate.
Profile of the PhD candidate:

Master degree in sciences – preferably Marine Sciences
Strong interest in education in the field of marine sciences
Good knowledge of the English language
You are a team player who is able to work independently
Offer: One year guaranteed PHD contract at Ghent University, with possibility for prolongation up to max 4
years. This PhD will be jointly supervised by the Faculty of Sciences (Ghent University) and the Faculty of
Pedagogical Sciences. An international PhD commission will be initialized leading to the potential award of a
Joint PhD degree.

Start of the activities: Mid August 2017 or at the latest 1 September 2017
