Extension Literacy/ Numeracy Use books or the internet to find out more about what seasides used to be like in the past and how they have changed. Think about some of the following questions: What did they look like? Who went there and why? What did people do? How do we know about them? Choose a way to present the information that you have found out. This could be: Design a poster for a seaside destination. Design a poster for a seaside town. This could be a poster for a modern town or a place in the past. The internet is a good place to find examples to help you get started. Use an attractive design and persuasive language to make people want to visit your chosen location. Turn your poster into the front cover of a mini travel brochure all about your chosen destination. Research skills Share some information about a time you visited the seaside. Think of a way you could share a trip to the seaside you have had with the class. It could be a trip you have been on recently, one from a long time ago or one that you are looking forward to. Collect some photographs, bring in some objects, write a recount/story, think of a story you could tell the class etc. You could create a card game to challenge the class to order your chosen animal’s lifecycle correctly. Speaking & listening Choose a concept that you are good at that you could teach the class about. Choose something that you are good at and have a go at creating a poster for our working wall that will help them with their maths. For example, you could choose shapes, fractions, times tables, addition and subtraction. Anything that we have covered in maths! Create a poster sharing key information, vocabulary and steps to finding the right answer. You could do a mini-lesson with the class to teach them about your concept.
