Dear Current & Returning Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Club Players,
RE: Pre-Season 2013/2014 for Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Club
With pre-season almost upon us, it is timely to provide everyone with all the details available at current
around pre-season: training schedule, venues and times; apparel; coaches; etc.
Training Schedule, Venues and Times
 Schedule:
o Included here is the schedule for pre-season training as it stands at June 25.
 There may be changes as pre-season unfolds, any will be advised by email.
 Venues:
o “Altona Indoor” is ‘Westgate Indoor Sports’ (corner Grieve Pde & Dohertys Rd Altona)
 Access and Car Park is off Dohertys Rd – players should park there and
enter the complex using the entry from this car park.
o “F & F” is ‘Maribyrnong College’ (River St, Maribyrnong)
 Access and Car Park is TO BE ADVISED.
o “MCG” is ‘Melbourne Cricket Ground’ (Yarra Park East Melbourne).
 Access and Car Park is Entrance/Exit via Gate A situated off Brunton
Avenue. Participants will need to report their name and reason for attending
(ie: CV Level 1 Coaching Course) to the Security Guard on duty. Entry via
Gate E should be avoided, but if Gate A is closed, then this would be the only
other access point. It may require picking up the phone by the side of the
roller door if the Security desk is unmanned.
 For exiting only – if Gate A is closed, you can vacate the Ground via Gate E.
o “MGHO” is ‘Mervyn G. Hughes Oval’ (Farnsworth Ave, Footscray).
 Access and Car Park is off Farnsworth Ave – players should park as close to
the net area as possible.
 Times:
o “Altona Indoor” sessions are all from 7pm to 9pm.
o “F & F” sessions are all from 6pm to 7.30pm.
o “MCG” sessions are as stated (please note the differences each session).
o “MGHO” sessions are at 5pm onward (during the week) & 9am onward (Saturdays).

Apparel
 Returning Footscray-Edgewater Players are to wear existing training gear.
 New Players are to wear a white polo shirt and comfortable/suitable pants/shorts.
The club is working at current toward getting a stock of apparel for the upcoming season, and will
advise players when new apparel can be purchased from the club.
Coaches
 With new Senior Coach Steve Chapman fulfilling his coaching commitments in England until
the week of August 12, new Senior Assistant Coach Duncan Harrison will lead all sessions.
 Duncan will be assisted by other coaches throughout the sessions as follows:
o Junior Assistant Coach = Shane King
o Batting Coach = Wes Robinson
o Bowling Coach = Merv Hughes
o Wicket-Keeping Coach = Rainer Reber
“Meet the Coach Function”
 A lunch at the Mona Castle Hotel (Austin St, Seddon), on Saturday August 17 from 12pm,
will be an opportunity for all players and supporters to meet our new coaches.
o There will be more information on this as the date gets closer.

 Broad communication will still come through myself at this email address also, so please
monitor your emails on a regular basis to ensure you are kept fully updated for pre-season.
The club and its officials look very much forward to seeing everyone at the start of pre-season to begin
