Financial Obligation Information 2017 – 2018
CALENDAR--These dates are primarily for current MCS families.

February 17, 2017
o Re-registration, Financial Obligation Information and Payment Preference Forms mailed to all parents. Families
begin FACTS G&AA process via website (see MCS website, Tuition Tab for FACTS link)
o FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Application Filing Options:

File 17-18 FACTS G&AA using 2016 Federal Tax information

File 17-18 FACTS G&AA using 2015 Federal Tax information
Please complete G&AA filing by 3-17-17 to allow FACTS ample time to process

March 17,2017
o RE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Re-registration Form, Deposit and Payment Preference Form returned to schools by this date.

Families submitting re-registration forms after March 17, 2017 may be assessed a $100 re-registration fee,
which will be added to their tuition obligation.

April 7, 2017
o FACTS DEADLINE

This is the last day to achieve “Verified” status if filing a FACTS G&AA.

Families in “Submitted” status after this date may not be eligible for financial aid.

New families have thirty (30) days from acceptance to reach “Verified” status if submitting
the FACTS G&AA.

April 28, 2017
o Financial aid offer(s) extended to families in writing (Accept/Decline Form).
o Aid amount will be determined by FACTS subject to total MCS aid availability.

May 19, 2017
o OFFER ACCEPTANCE DEADLINE

Families must return signed acceptance or declination of financial aid offer(s) to Tuition Office by this date.

Families declining offer(s) of financial aid in writing by this date will have their tuition deposits refunded.

June 19, 2017
o TUITION INVOICING BEGINS

All families will receive a formal billing during the summer months.

Families who have not returned a Payment Preference Form will be invoiced on a semester basis.

August 11, 2017
o Deadline for first tuition payment due to MCS Tuition Office. Students will not be allowed to attend class unless all
tuition paperwork is complete and the first payment is received.

Philosophy
o MCS tuition is a “Cost-Based; Need Based” tuition program.
o “Cost Based” in that tuition amounts assessed are based on the cost to educate a projected student population. “Need
Based” in that a family’s ability to pay tuition is determined through the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.
Application
o MCS distributes tuition assistance following guidelines as established by the MCS Board of Limited Jurisdiction.
Tuition Delinquency Policy
o Any account sixty (60) calendar days behind its payment schedule will be considered delinquent and the MCS Tuition
and Delinquency Policy will be followed. See the MCS Finance and Business Operations Policy at (mcsmt.org) for
more information.

Rates

Missoula Catholic Schools' tuition rates for 2016-17 ranged from $2,855 - $10,375 at Loyola Sacred Heart and $1,714 $6,970 at St. Joseph, depending on each family's assessment by FACTS, and their qualification for merit and needbased scholarships. Approximately 50% of our families used the FACTS tuition assessment process this last school
year.

Every family's financial situation is different. Missoula Catholic Schools makes every effort to provide tuition
assistance to all families who desire a Catholic education through our tuition assistance program.
Student Transfers
o If a student withdraws within the first two weeks of a semester, tuition is equal to the greater of:

Non-refundable deposit.

Pro-rated tuition based on the number of school days attended.
o If a student withdraws after the first two weeks of a semester, tuition is equal to 50% of the annual tuition assessment.
o If a student is accepted after the start of a semester, the annual tuition assessed will be pro-rated based on the number
of school days remaining in the school year to the total number of school days.
o Refunds for overpayment of tuition will be made in a timely manner by semester.
Additional Obligations

Service Hours
o It is the responsibility of all MCS families to volunteer their time in serving the schools or the LSH Foundation.
o Two parent families must complete 20 service hours per academic year. Single parent families must complete 10 service
hours per academic year.
o Service hour forms (signed) are to be turned in no later than 30 days after the end of each month.
o Service hours not completed will be invoiced at $15 per hour in the next year’s tuition.
o Families have the option of foregoing their service hours by remitting a check for $300 (20 hours x $15.00) or $150 for a
single parent (10 hours x $15.00) along with the family tuition deposit at the time of registration.


re-enrolled until this deposit is received. This deposit is applied to tuition.

o Admits high school students to all LSH home sponsored co-curricular events.

o Covers the cost of senior breakfast, graduation diplomas, graduation gowns, senior retreat, and senior trip.

o Assist the high school in underwriting a portion of the cost of co-curricular activities. LSH is currently evaluating
its activity expenses and income and will be forthcoming with Participation Fees for the 17-18 school year.
