My Digital Footprint
How Might Your Digital Foot Print Effect
Your Future Opportunities
• Your Digital Foot Print is an interesting trail that you could leave behind in a
good or bad way for your future. When someone googles you, you never
know what it will show. If you think that your being safe with your Digital
Footprints, think again.
• Anyone could see it your teachers, employers, or bosses. So you need to be
carful about your Digital Footprints, that way you can have a future to look
forward too.
Future Jobs
If you were thinking of getting a job, the boss
might Google you and they were expected a hard
worker responsible and gets the job done. But if
you have a picture of yourself drinking and
partying, the boss will find you a party person, not
responsible and could be a risk to the company.
Having a job is going to be one in a million.
Future Education
• The same thing that will happen
when you apply for college or
university. Your professors or
teachers will be looking for a
responsible, hard work
achievements person who will
focus on their studies and there
career jobs
• If they see a history of bad school
behaviour or grade failure, they will
think that you were childish, didn't
see the point of having an
education. You will not get into
college or university. They will
think right off the bat that your not
worth wasting their time.
Strategies for a Safe and Appropriate
Digital Footprint
• Strategies are good to have, if you
just started your social media
accounts and don't know how to
have a safe experience.
• List of all account users and
passwords
• Privacy setting
• Don't overshare
• Google yourself
Account Usernames and Passwords
When you have all these social media with users and passwords, you tend to
forget them easily. It's always important to have a list of that information, it can
be very helpful if you’re a forgetful person. Even if you really decide you don't
want to have your account anymore it's still useful to have, because if you
don't use that account anymore someone could hack it and use all of your
personal information, but you could still get help. Having the information you
had can be used in the future and could be handy.
Privacy Settings
Using Privacy settings can help improve with your information and post stay
private at all times. Although you have to keep in mind that even you have the
Privacy Settings on it will always find a loophole to not stay private, any user
might get a hold of your posts or information. When you are controlled of
your own social media account, you get a chance to chose who get to see your
account ex: (random people or friends). If you didn't put your account(s) on
private, and you but a bad picture of yourself (doing bad stuff) then that
person can put rude comments or put it on there accounts to her from their
friends comments.
Don't Overshare
It is very important not to Overshare. If you post
on one of your accounts that your going to some
place at a specific time and when, then a stranger
could kidnap you, murder you, or beat you up. You
always have to say to yourself before you post
anything, " is this to much information "?
Google Yourself
One in a while you should Google yourself to reflect on. You ask yourself it it
safe, what would other people think of me, will this effect my future. If they
are all positive that's great, if they aren't your going to have to make some
changes of what you post or say online. It's important because it's a huge part
of your life, and if it needs fixing, do it know .
What Information Did I Learn That I
Would Share With Students
I Learned That:
• Googling yourself one while is
good.
• If your Digital Footprints has a
positive effect then that is great for
ur future
• In any future opportunities people
will Google you
Share with students
• Don't post bad photos
• Put your account for private
• Remember your account(s)
information
How Would I Go About
Telling Them
I would tell other students about the Digital
Footprints, just like a conversation. I would tell
them about the safety, the privacy. How it could be
a positive or negative effect on your life. I would
tell them that anyone can Google you and if you
post the wrong it could in the hands of the title
wave washing away your future.
The End
