The following tutorial assignments deal with the equilibrium of a single particle: At-Home Tutorial Assignment 1, In-Tutorial Assignment 1, Tutorial Assignment 2, Problem 4 and Problem 5 of At-Home Tutorial Assignment 3 and Problem 1 of In-Tutorial Assignment 3. The two problems of Lecture 5 deal with the equilibrium of a single particle. Problem 1 of Pulleys and Springs deals with the equilibrium of a single particle. 1. A particle is subjected to four coplanar forces (as shown in the figure below). Determine the magnitude of F and the orientation, θ, of the 750 N force for equilibrium. 2. With reference to the following figure, determine the maximum weight of the engine that can be supported without exceeding a tension of 2000 N in cable AB and 2200 N in cable AC. 1 3. Determine the forces in cables AB and AC necessary to support the light fixture of weight 150 N. 4.
