Green Team News
On Monday, May 16, a representative from Ontario Eco Schools will be coming for a site visit to
celebrate all of the hard work our school has done to make JPS a more ecofriendly place. We are

Junior Basketball
Another great season was had by the Jr. Basketball team of Jarvis. After completing three mini
tournaments, we were placed in the B division! On April 11th we travelled to Dunnville Secondary to
battle for the banner. After a long day and some amazing memories, we came close but did not have
enough points to move into the finals. A big thank you goes out to all the parent drivers, coaching
students and staff but most of all to the players! Well done Jarvis. GO JETS GO!!!
Intermediate Boys’ Basketball
Congratulations to the Intermediate Boys’ Basketball team for winning the ‘B’ Division Championship
in March at Dunnville Secondary School. The boys went undefeated on the day! They defeated
Hagersville 23-13, Centennial 30-16, Anna Melick 30-18, Grandview 34-14, and Anna Melick 43-20
in the Championship game! This is the second banner this year for the Intermediate boys as they
won the ‘A’ Volleyball Championship in December.
Oscar Awards
The Movie Club premiered their movies in late April before the entire school. Now it’s time for the
Oscars! We are encouraging everyone to wear formal wear this day as we’ll have a red carpet
entrance. We’ll be previewing just snippits of the movies again to see who got nominated for an
award. You are more than welcome to come and watch along with us. And the Oscar goes to….
Learning Advantage Workbooks
Jarvis will be making available a summer activity workbook called "Learning Advantage" later in the
month of May. "Learning Advantage" is a fully coloured 192 page, activity book designed to
reinforce and maintain Kindergarten to Grade 7 students' academic learning skills over the summer
months. There is one 192 paged activity book per grade level from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7.
All major units and 3 summer fun units in each book are aligned with the Ontario curriculum
expectations. In addition to the summer months, the books can be used all year long from
September to the following June. All books have parent information pages, evaluation forms; follow
up activities and a family focus. A full lineup of French immersion books is also available. The cost
of each book is $19.05 plus GST ($20 total). This is a savings of about $4 compared retail and online
prices. You can visit www.learningadvantage.ca to download a free unit of the book you would like
to order for further review. An order form and information sheet with more details about the
“Learning Advantage" program will be sent home to all parents within the next few weeks. Please
direct questions to Mary-Jo Montalban [email protected] Please note: the order form
