RULES OF PLAY

RULES OF PLAY
The Rules of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, its Decisions on the Rules of Golf, and the
following local rules govern play.
Complete text of Rules and Appendix I may be found in
the current Rules of Golf. Unless otherwise provided,
penalty for breach of a Local Rule is Loss of Hole in
Match Play and Two Strokes in Stroke Play.
White Stakes and / or Lines - Out of Bounds
Yellow Stakes and / or Lines - Water Hazard
Red Stakes and / or Lines - Lateral Water Hazard
FLOWER BEDS
Flower beds are deemed to be Ground Under Repair from
which play is prohibited. Relief in accordance with Rule
25-1b is mandatory.
FRENCH DRAINS
French drains are deemed to be Ground Under Repair.
For interference and relief procedures, see Rule 25-1.
PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES
Protection of young trees is identified by stakes. If such
a tree interferes with a player’s stance or the area of his
intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty,
and dropped in accordance with the procedure
prescribed in Rule 25-2b (Immovable Obstruction). The
ball may be cleaned when lifted under the Local Rule.
BALL DROPS
The Turf Care Centre on the 10th hole, fence between the
12th hole and 15th green, hedge left of the 14th green,
fence between the 14th green and 15th tee are all deemed
to be immovable obstructions. A player entitled to relief
may apply Rule 24-2b or, without penalty, drop the ball
on the appropriate area marked “Ball Drop”.
On the 18th hole, when applicable, relief must be taken
without penalty in the Ball Drop if a player’s stance, area
of his intended swing, or line of play is interfered with
by the tarp protecting the sailing area.
On the 13th hole, if a player’s ball comes to rest in the
lateral water hazard right of the fairway, the player may
either proceed under Rule 26-1c (relief from a Lateral
Water Hazard), or play from the Ball Drop just before the
road with penalty of one stroke.
RELIEF FOR EMBEDDED BALL
Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own
pitch mark in the ground may be lifted, without penalty,
cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay
but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must
first strike a part of the course through the green.
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
For all play at this course, a player may obtain distance
information by using a device that measures distance
only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a
distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or
measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g.,
gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in
breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is
disqualification, regardless of whether any such
additional function is actually used.
