HISTORY & PURPOSE OF THE SPORTS COMMISSION
• Began in 2005 as a partnership among Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
Tourism (CVB), the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and the
cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
• Markets and sells Gulf Shores and Orange Beach as a premier
destination for sporting events
• Prides itself on creating a family-friendly and fun environment for
athletes of all ages
• Partially funded by sponsorships that are used (1) to bid on larger
events and (2) give grants to existing events and ultimately grow
participation levels
