Job Description Job title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology Department: Life Sciences Reports to: Head of Department Grade: RU08/9 Main purpose of the job: Applications are invited for a full-time, without-term Lecturer /Senior Lecturer post in Sport and Exercise Psychology. We are seeking applications from experienced and highly motivated candidates who will contribute across the department and sports programmes and specifically teach and lead on Sports Psychology. Experience of applied practice within the field of sport and exercise psychology would also be desirable as well as experience with qualitative research methods. The department is home to over 800 students. In addition to our PhD programme, we have undergraduate programmes in Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition and Health, Sport & Exercise Science, Sport Psychology and Zoology, and postgraduate MSc/MRes programmes in the health, sport and primatology areas There is an active research community comprising of 43 academic staff and their research students, and a highly skilled technical team who support both research and teaching. Within the Centre for Research in Ecology (CRE) staff have expertise in freshwater ecology, terrestrial ecology, and whole-animal behavioural-physiology, using both vertebrate and invertebrate models. In addition, staff in other research centres work on related topics such as primatology and other aspects of biological anthropology Centre for Research in Evolutionary, Social and Inter-Disciplinary Anthropology. We have a well-established suite of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level including zoology, biological sciences, nutrition, health, sport & exercise sciences, biomedical sciences, anthropology and primatology. Additional Information Salary range: £38,428 to £50,396 p.a. An appointment is usually made at the bottom of the relevant scale. Where a candidate’s current salary already exceeds the bottom point, consideration will be given to the level of skills, experience and profile that the candidate is bringing to the role. The salaries of other staff doing the same or similar work within the department who have similar skills, experience and profile should also be taken into account. The annual leave entitlement is 35 days p.a., additionally there are 3 – 4 days when the university closes for Christmas. Successful completion of R4NA leads to recognition at D2 of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) and as a Fellow of the Higher Education academy (HEA). You are exempt from this if you: o hold a certificate in learning and teaching in Higher Education from a different University. Most of these automatically lead to Fellowship of the HEA. If yours does not, you are expected to engage with University of Roehampton Reflective Account of Practice (URRAP) in your first year of service to gain recognition as a Fellow; o have over 3 years’ experience of teaching in Higher Education in the UK. If you do not have recognition as a Fellow of the HEA, you are expected to engage with University of Roehampton Reflective Account of Practice and gain recognition in your first year of service; o are already a Fellow of the HE Academy (NB. You must supply proof of your FHEA status - i.e. number and date.) There are no fixed hours of work and you are expected to give a full professional commitment and work for such reasonable hours as are necessary for you to fulfil your duties and responsibilities.
