SENATE POLICIES TO BE FOLLOWED
Note: The Registrar’s Office will inform the Faculty of any perceived contravention of Senate regulations.
Course Equivalency
With the permission of a program advisor in the major area, a student may substitute one course for another of equivalent content. While this equivalent
course(s) satisfies the requirement, it does not reduce the number of courses required in the major area. (Example: **300 should be replaced by a *300,
a *100 cannot replace a *300.) This policy is firm.
Senior-level Course Requirements
Three-year degree programs require a minimum of 16 (sixteen) courses at or above the 200-level. All four-year programs require a minimum of 26
(twenty-six) courses at or above the 200-level. Consequently, no student will be able to count more than 14 (fourteen) 100-level courses towards a
degree.
Residency Requirements
The number of courses required for the attainment of any degree or certificate is indicated in each program. See calendar regulations under
“Residency Requirements.”
Exemptions
Deans (or designates) may approve exemptions for academic program regulations provided that the exemption maintains the academic integrity of the
degree. Such exemptions, accompanied by a strong rationale, are to be filed with the Office of the Registrar on the DARS form. (Senate: March 9, 2010).
