Woodland walks
Woodland walks be starting back up the week beginning 24th April. We will take it week
about with the groups walking up to the woods from nursery. We will inform you of what
group is going each week. Any parents/carers who would like to help on our walks to the
woods, please let Mrs Gray know. The woodland walks will take place on a Monday
afternoon and then on a Tuesday morning. If your child is not in nursery on the day of the walks and would be
able to meet us in the woods, this is not a problem, please let Mrs Gray know.
Donations
A huge thank you to you all for the amazing donations we have had into the nursery, from wooden blocks, to
guttering, to toy cars, to the Smartie tubes, and loads more! All your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Nursery pick up times.
Please let a member of
staff know if you plan on
collecting you child before the end of the nursery session. Morning session doors are open at 8.40am until 9am,
and then reopen at 11.30-11.50am. Staff have lunch 11.50-12.20. Afternoon session doors are open 12.20-
12.30pm and will reopen at 3.00-3.30pm. If possible, please try to stick to these times as lots of early pickups
can cause disruption to the nursery session.
Bring your HERO to nursery
On Friday 9th June is when you can bring your special HERO to nursery! Your special HERO could
be your dad, uncle, grandpa or another family relative. Just one adult per child please on the
day. We will have lots of fun activities and things to do. On the communication wall, above the
book swap in the reception area, we will put up the allocated times for this special day and you
can add your child’s name to the time slot.
Graduation/Fun Day/Sports Day
The nursery Graduation Day is going to be the morning of Friday 30 th June and take place at
Carronvale house for both the morning and afternoon children. We are going to
make it a big fun day and sports day with Enjoy-a-ball coming along too. More information will
follow for this fantastic day.
Stenhousemuir Football
A huge thank you to Stenhousemuir Football club for coming and giving us such brilliantly fun sessions over the
last 8 weeks. The children very much enjoyed this, they all showed great listening skills, they followed
instructions, worked together and independently and also had such good balance and control with the football.
Enjoy-a-Ball
I am pleased to let you know we are going to be having a block of sessions with Enjoy-a-ball this term. Enjoy-aball is a multi-sports program, that will teach up to 10 different ball sports to give your child a broad range of
skills and sporting experiences, and of course social skills too.
Children’s interests/floor book
The children are very interested in building at the moment. The children are using their imagination by
experimenting with different loose materials to build a range of different things. Please have a look at our
floor book where you will see all the evidence of the children’s learning and progress. The floor book will usually
be situated on the table in front of the TV in the cloakroom, however, the floor
book is a working document so it may be out on the floor too but please ask a
staff member if you wish to see it.
We also have the communication book which is on the table in front of the TV.
This will have photographs and children’s comments from other experiences that
the children have had out with the planning/interest. For example, going to the
gym hall, going to the woods, Spanish with Primary 6. Please look at this and add
any comments.
Parent/carer Noticeboard
Please look at our noticeboard, which is on the side of the MUGA. Here you will find details of the nursery week
and additional information/news will displayed here.
Nursery Gate
Please can we remind everyone to close and lock the nursery gate, when entering or leaving the nursery. On a
few occasions the gate has been left open, this is very important for health and safety reasons.
Signing your child out at the end of the session
Please can we remind parents/carers that we encourage the children to stay in their group area until their
parent/carer has come over to their group area and signed them out. This is for health and safety and to
ensure that the key worker knows who has been collected.
Shoe bags- please put your child’s indoor shoes back into your child’s draw string bag. The drawers are for the
children’s outdoor shoes. We are having a lot of indoor shoes going missing. So please make sure your child’s
name is on everything!
Photography and Filming in the Nursery
This year we have a number of parents who have requested that their children are not photographed or filmed.
Therefore, we would politely ask that you do not take photographs or film in the nursery or during any other
activities such open day events or shows. In accordance to these wishes, could parents/carers please ensure
they are not on their phones when they enter the nursery.
Please Remember!
The nursery staff, myself, Mrs Gillespie and Mrs Macartney are always happy to speak to you or meet if you
have any questions or concerns. If you need to contact us please pop in, write, telephone or use the school email address. If you need to communicate with us urgently, it is usually best to telephone rather than e-mail as
there may be a delay.
Thank you.
