As you already know , George Washington was Americas first president. As
president he wrote such a thing called "Farewell Address". Since then the
government has not really listened to his warning in the letter. Since then the
political parties haven't gotten better with the two party system. Even thou the
system isn't the best , the government offers a lot of thing to/for us .
George Washington's farewell address was issued as a public letter in 1796. It
was one of the most influential statement of the republicanism. This letter to the
public give a lot of advice and warnings. George Washington's farewell address
gives advice on necessity and importance of nation union , the value of the
constitution , the rule of the laws , the evils of political parties, and the proper
virtues of the republican people.
Our government offers us a lot of things and we got/get a lot of benefits from
the government. One of them being education. By education I mean our schools ,
early childhood services, elementary, middle/high school, and college. They also
offer us emergency services being 911. Firefighters, Police , Ambulances, and
hospitals are all emergency services. Our government also benefits us with living
assistance, low income housing , food stamps, housing assistance, etc. and best
of all , they provide with fun. By fun I mean activities for to do , places for us to
go. Such as art galleries, Internet, museums, national parks/zoos , beaches,
pools , etc.
Now on to our to our two party system . Many people say that the two party
system is broken. Only 15% of people think that our party system works. Another
52% say it has real problems but could work with some improvements. And 31%
of people think our two party system is seriously broken and that we need a third
party. A full 83% say our political system needs significant improvement. There
are three core causes corroding our democracy: money, lack of accountability,
and zero-sum politics.
With that our nation is in debt . America is in debt of 320,00$ . They collected
2.2 trillion dollars in 2011 from us. By us I mean income taxes, payroll taxes,
estate taxes, excite taxes, corporate taxes, tariffs, and other fees. They ended up
spending 3.8 trillion dollars (spent way more than what they think had) , it was so
bad we was in 14.6 trillion dollars in 2011. They have been spending to much
money. A normal household would be contemplating BANKRUPTCY, the
government has been proving to do the same . Before it becomes impossible to
pay the bills.
As you can see by the numbers in debt the government has been spending
way more than its income for a long time. The government does help a lot even
thou it's not in the best of shape right now . The two parties need major
improvement or some type of change. America did not listen to the warning and
advice that George Washington gave in his farewell address letter.
