Project description
•
The “Olomoucká” site of the Prison and Preventative Detention
Facility in Opava does not provide any area where external firms
could employ imprisoned women or where educational activities
could take place.
• The only suitable building that could be renovated for these
purposes is a former coal-fired boiler plant.

The layout of the building whose built-up area and above-ground
floor height are 211 m2 and 7.5 m, respectively, will be modified to
provide room for new operations, including a sublevel floor the area
of which will be 315 m2, offering a possibility of dividing the premises
into two separate floors.
•
The first floor in particular will be designed for employing
sentenced women and for educational activities.
•
Depending on the nature of the production and with a view to
compliance with all applicable hygienic and safety standards, the
renovated premises will allow 25 to 50 women to be employed or 12
to 20 women to attend requalification training courses.

• In addition to the modified interior layout and the
incorporation of the sublevel mentioned above, the renovation
project will include:

Scope of work
• The renovated building will comprise new:
- electrical installations
- sanitary systems
- central heating systems
- HVAC
and other supplementary construction work.
• The new premises will also comprise new alarm and
security systems, IT systems, and also small fixed assets
and consumables (wooden and metal furniture, other
equipment) in areas designated for educational activities.
• Each floor will have separate sanitary facilities and
supporting arrangements for personnel of employers and
lecturers/educators.

Costs of the project
• A preliminary calculation of the costs of the project will be
based on an estimate of costs of construction works. A
detailed project budget will be included in the project
specifications as a Bill of Quantities and Prices, and the final
price will result from negotiations with the winning bidder
selected in a tender process.

labour market
better jobs for women released from prison in the
labour market
sharing the costs of the imprisonment by the sentenced

expanding the existing cooperation with employers

possibility of renting the premises to new firms, on the
condition they will employ sentenced women

Educational activities
• Providing facilities for the purpose of educational
activities will:
 offer new opportunities for education to sentenced women

help implement additional special educational activities

expand cooperation with Charita Opava in the field of education
(courses for sentenced women with a low education level)
