We are now accepting registration for Fall 2016 Parents must provide: Official proof of age (must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1st) Proof of residency (utility bill, rental agreement, etc) Current Immunization records STUDENT PLACEMENT FOR FALL Student placement in a particular classroom is a very thorough process, which initially involves a team of teachers, specialists, and the Principal. Parent input is important, and adds insight to appropriate placement of students. The district is using a Parent Special Needs Request form as a communication tool for parent participation. This form does not guarantee that your child will be placed with a specific teacher. We do not accept requests for specific teachers. The reasons could include changes in enrollment, teacher retirement, new staff, grade level changes by teachers, and Principal’s considerations. When placement of students is made, one of the main goals is to balance classes and student needs as much as possible. We welcome your participation in the placement process of your child for next year. If you have concerns to be considered, please contact the school office about receiving a Parent Special Needs Request Form. If you wish for your request to be considered for the 2015-16 school year, complete and return the Parent Request Form by April 29th Dental Sealant Results Each year the Dental Sealant Program has been able to increase support for our students. We were able to give the following number of 2nd and 3rd grade students, shown below, dental care that would have cost $4,800 in the private sector. Children found with urgent dental needs also had their parents contacted and referrals were made. 47 Students were screened, 34 students received sealants and 4 students were referred for urgent dental needs Children free of dental disease and pain will be better equipped to maximize their learning experience. We look forward to continuing this service for you next year. Barbara Broderick, Senior Office Assistant School and Community Oral Health Programs State Testing rd Students in the 3 , 4th and 5th grade have been working hard during their testing time for the Oregon Statewide Smarter Balance Assessments, “SBAC”. All students in these grades are currently taking 4 different tests that are intended to measure their achievement in the areas of English/Language Arts and Math. Our testing sessions began on March 28th and will conclude the end of May. Each test is taking place on the computers with the support of their classroom teacher and instructional assistants. It is important that students and families take the tests seriously and do all they can to be prepared. Here are some helpful hints for parents: Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep each night A healthy breakfast is a must for good brain power Discuss the test with your child to ease their anxiety. Let them know that you know they will not be able to answer every question perfectly, but that they should try their best. Ask your child when their class is scheduled to test. Please avoid scheduling appointments during the school day so as not to disrupt the testing process for your child and the other students in their class. Thank you for your support in making the testing process a positive one for your child.
