Terrier Softball 2017: Integrity Missions Statement: The Redlands High School Softball Program has the goal to develop young girls to become the best team and softball players that they can become. The Redlands High School Softball Program is not only concerned with developing the softball skills of these young girls, but also wants to provide structure and support that will allow these girls to turn into productive and responsible young adults. The Redlands High School Softball Program will achieve this through hard work, structure and determination. Program Summary: Terrier Softball is one of the premier programs in the Inland Empire and Southern California. The Terriers have claimed eight CBL championships and appeared in two CIF semifinals. The Redlands High School Program has graduated thirty four players to the collegiate level over the past ten years. More importantly 100% of seniors that have played four years of softball for Redlands High School have graduated high school and 93% of the program’s four year members have attended college. Coaches: Coach Ford: 14th year coaching softball at Redlands High School, 13th as the varsity head coach. His teams have qualified for the playoffs nine times in twelve years. Coach Ford is the program’s head coach and varsity catching coach. Coach Ford played 4 years of football and baseball at the University of Redlands. Coach Ford is also a social studies teacher on campus. Coach Cabral: 7th year coaching softball at Redlands High School. Coach Cabral has coached for various travel ball organizations including the prestigious Batbusters, Firecrakers and many more. Coach Cabral brings passion and grit to the Terriers. Coach Cabral will be the varsity outfield coach. Coach Jaquish: 1st year coaching at Redlands High School. Coach Jaquish has been a head coach for many different travel ball organizations including Bownet, Firecrackers, Cal Cruisers as well as being a private instructor for many years. Coach Jaquish will be the varsity infield coach and hitting supervisor. Coach Garcia: 1st year coaching at Redlands High School. Coach Garcia played at Relands high School from 2009-2012 and is the school’s all-time leader in E.R.A. amongst many other accolades. She played collegiately at Azusa Pacific. Coach Garcia will be the programs pitch coach. Coach Rettig: 2nd year coaching at Redlands High School. Coach Rettig was a four year varsity letter winner at Redlands High School. She also played college softball at Chico State University. Coach Rettig will be the head JV coach this season Coach Mena: 4th year coaching softball at Redlands High School. Coach Mena will is the frosh head coach. Coach Mena brings enthusiasm and workman’s attitude to the Redlands High School Softball Program. Coach Mena has also been the head freshman coach at Temescal Canyon as well as coach in the Riot Softball Organization. Coach Coe: 8h year coaching softball at Redlands High School. Coach Coe played for Coach Ford at RHS, twice being named a varsity captain. Coach Coe was a huge building block in the success of getting the Terrier Softball Program established. Coach Coe has also coached for the Riot Softball Organization. Coach Coe is an assistant coach for both the jv and frosh teams. All players must fill out the travel permission slip for travel to non-league away games. Players may not drive one another! Players may move from one level to another throughout the year based on the program’s needs. Varsity: The varsity softball team will practice or have games Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. Practices will go from 1:45-5:30 daily when the season begins. The varsity team will have a weekly dinner at a different player’s house every Thursday. If a player has to leave practice early or miss a team-sanctioned event, it is her responsibility to talk to communicate with the coaching staff. Communication is vital. In season private lessons or workouts must be made at a time that does not interfere with the program’s practice. Varsity players and parents must help out with the running of the JV Spring Bash softball tournament. Lower Levels will practice together and be ran as one group. Players on the lower levels will be moved up and down to whatever position is going to help the program the most. Junior Varsity: The junior varsity team will practice form 1:45-5 PM daily. The Junior Varsity team and parents are responsible for helping out our Redlands Invitational Softball Tournament. If a player has to leave practice early or miss a team-sanctioned event, it is her responsibility to talk to communicate with the coaching staff. Communication is vital. In season private lessons or workouts must be made at a time that does not interfere with the program’s practice. Frosh: The frosh will practice from 1:45- 5 PM daily. The Frosh team and parents are responsible for helping out our Redlands Invitational Softball Tournament. If a player has to leave practice early or miss a team-sanctioned event, it is her responsibility to talk to communicate with the coaching staff. Communication is vital. In season private lessons or workouts must be made at a time that does not interfere with the program’s practice. Booster Club Meetings: The Redlands High School Softball Boosters Club meets the third Tuesday of every month in Coach Ford’s Room 448 at 7 P.M. If you miss the practice before a game, then you are not eligible to play in the next game. The only exception is a missed practice because of another school activity. If a player is sick, they must make contact with their coach. If they show up to practice and the coach dismisses them to go home then they are cleared to play to the following day. Alcohol and Drug Policy A. Any player who uses drugs or alcohol will be dismissed from the Terrier Softball Program for the remainder of the season. They can seek reinstatement at the beginning of the next school year. Eligibility A. Every softball player must maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. Grade Checks A. Every player must turn in a weekly grade report to there respective coach. A failure to turn in a weekly report will be dealt with by each individual coach. Behavior at School A. Any player who receives a referral will be dealt with by their individual coach. B. Any player who receives 3 referrals will receive a one game suspension. C. Any player who receives five referrals will be removed for the program for one year. D. Any player who receives a suspension will be suspended for the program for 3 games or possibly face being removed from the program depending on the reason for suspension. E. Any player who receives two suspensions will be removed from the program for one year. F. Players must attend class. Class cuts will result in punishment and possibly suspension from the team. Dress Code A. Members of the Terrier Softball Program will be expected to dress appropriately for school. Any player who dresses inappropriately for school will be dealt with at practice. B. At practice all players must be properly dressed in softball attire. This includes Terrier shirts, pants and white or blue socks. All players should have a sweatshirt and a pair of athletic shoes in their bag. Positions A. A player’s position will be assigned by the coaches. It is a coach’s responsibility to put the players in the best position that will benefit the whole team or program (not the individual). Team Building Activities A. Team building activities range from team dinners to taking a field trip to watch collegiate games. There are great activities that bring the team together and need to be attended by all members of their respective teams. Adopt- a – Softball Player A. This is a program set up to allow girls to get sponsors for their practice gear and help with the cost of RHS Softball Boosters. Each girl will have their picture taken and put on a poster with their position and schedule. A supporter or business can receive a poster by sponsoring a player for a $ 100. JV and Frosh need to get two sponsors and varsity needs to get three. Banners for businesses or individuals can be purchased too. The cost of a new banner is $250 and to renew it every year is $150. The RHS Softball Boosters is a non-profit organization, so contributions to the program can be used as a tax write off. Attitude A. Any player whose attitude becomes detrimental or distraction to the team or program can be suspended or removed from the program. Playing time A. Playing time will not be discussed with any parents. The coaches will do their best to get players in the game, but it is a privilege to get playing time not a right. A player can come and talk to a coach about what they need to work on, but not ask about playing time. There is a one-day cooling off period before a player or parent is allowed to talk to a coach about a game. Fundraising A. All players are asked to help out the best that they can with fundraising activities. Being involved and showing up to fundraising is vital. There are ton of ways to be involved and things each player and family can do to help!
