Dear Families,
Welcome to Spelling here in 3-4! Each week, students will be asked to
complete 3 Spelling choices from a “Tic Tac Toe” board that will be glued into
their Spelling notebooks. Students are NOT REQUIRED TO FOLLOW the threein-a-row format. Instead, they can pick any 3 choices on the board. Please try
to encourage students to try new choices each week! The Spelling choices will
be due Friday mornings (which is also the day of our weekly test, unless
otherwise specified).
We are subscribed to a website called Spelling City, where students can
retrieve spelling lists, and play games that will help in studying for the weekly
tests. Spelling City is a choice on the Tic Tac Toe! However, we are only
allowing one Spelling City activity to be submitted as part of the 3 each week.
We want students to be able to write out words, and not just practice them on
the computer. Here are the directions to follow in order to get to my Spelling
City site.
1. Go to
www.spellingcity.com
2. Click on “Find a List” on the
toolbar at the top of the
page. Search “J Jamieson.”
3. Click on the link to my
name. It will say Central
School to the right.
4. This will bring you to a
page where I have the
spelling lists for our Journeys stories. Scroll to the bottom to find A Fine,
Fine School. As we move on in the year, you will work your way through
the lists by going up, rather that down. There may also be additions and
adjustments to lists. We will give everyone a head’s up if there are new
changes.
If you run into any issues, please e-mail either Miss J or Mrs. E and we’ll do
our best to help with the problem. Use this as a tool not only to complete
Spelling Tic Tac Toe, but as a test study guide!
