Walk to School Week
Dates for your Diary
Well done to our 2 P6 Road Safety Officers –
Megan McLellan and Sam Sharkey who coordinated this year’s Walk to School Week.
Well done to everyone who walked and let’s
continue to walk. This also helps to promote
easier and safer access to school for our
pupils at the start and end of the day.

May Fete – PTA
Thank you to our PTA for organiing another
very successful fete raising the wonderful
sum of over £3000. It was a beautiful sunny
day which was enjoyed by all.
The AGM will be held in Arches on Thursday
20/06/13 at 7.30pm.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the
PTA for all their hard work supporting the
school this year.
Sports Day
Sports Day took place on Thursday 30th
May and was very successful with great
weather on the day. This year’s theme
was the Commonwealth Games and the
winning country was Canada.
Money Week
We had a very successful Money Week with
visits from bank employees and local
businesses. Some pupils also visited shops
and banks to further enhance their financial
education. Classes also participated in
various activities throughout the week.
Induction Days
Our Primary 7 pupils attended Clydeview
Academy this week for their Induction Days.
The pupils were looking forward to
experiencing changing classes and different
subjects.
Our new Primary 1 pupils have also attended
their Induction Days this week and were very
excited about going to school.
We welcomed our new starts to the Nursery
Class for an Open Afternoon.
Head Lice
A reminder that parents should check their
child’s head regularly for head lice. Further
information can be obtained from Greenock
Health Centre School Health dept or your
local pharmacy.
P6 – ‘Shall We Dance’
P6 pupils have had weekly input from
Rigarts to prepare for their performance
which took place at the Beacon Centre
this week and was a great success.

Nursery Hospice Enterprise
P5 – ‘Let the Games Begin’
Well done to the Nursery Class who raised
the fantastic sum of £368.03 with their ‘Go
Yellow for Ardgowan Hospice’.
P5 year group have been participating in
weekly rehearsals for a performance in the
Town Hall on Wed 12th June 13. Family and
friends are invited to attend. Doors open at
1pm for a 1.15 performance
Leaver’s Service / Leaver’s Dance
P5 Cake & Candy
Pupils held a Cake and Candy Day recently
and raised £222.75 towards class trips.
Thank you to everyone who donated baking.
P1 Fairyland
We had a very successful Fairyland Day for
family and friends of P1. Pupils raised
£290.98 which will be used to purchase lovely
new dressing up clothes and items for our
Fairyland topic.
The service will take place on Friday 14th June
at 9.30am in the school. The dance will be
held from 7.30-10pm on Tuesday 25th June.
Lunch Money
There will be an increase in price
for school meals effective from 15th August to
£1.80. Please provide your child with the
correct money if possible. Thank you.
Drainage Works / Repairs
Drainage work to the grounds will continue
through the summer break and the middle
and senior toilets will also be upgraded and
repaired.
P2 Circus
Mary’s Meals Backpack Appeal
Our P2
Circus act of
clowns,
strongmen,
stilt walkers, jugglers, lions, a lion tamer,
elephants, acrobats, and many more
performed to family and friends in a
thoroughly enjoyable Circus Show.
We are once again supporting ‘The Backpack
Project’ for Mary’s Meals. We would be
grateful if you could donate your child’s old
school bag at the end of term.
Inside
stationery, towel, flip flops / sandals, clothes
toiletries, etc. can be
included. All bags
should be handed in
to Mrs Waddell P6
on the last week of term.

Football
Well done to our Fun Fours football team who
participated in the National Finals in
Edinburgh.
Swimming Gala
Selected swimmers from
P6 participated in the P6
Inverclyde Swimming Gala
recently and enjoyed their
day.
