I am writing to you on behalf of Southside Ice Arena and Fox Motors Hockey Club, a locally owned ice arena
and youth hockey organization. We feel it’s important to come together and work as a community toward a
common goal, other than competition on the ice. All of our 26+ teams are excited to participate in Hockey Fights
Cancer this February raising money and awareness for Van Andel Institute through Purple Community. Purple
Community is the grassroots community awareness and fundraising program that connects organizations, like
us, to the resources needed to join the fight against cancer. Van Andel Institute, a world-class biomedical
research and science education facility headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. With Purple Community every
dollar raised goes directly to the laboratories where scientists are searching for answers for many types of
cancers and other diseases. Hockey Fights Cancer is also a celebration of those who have battled cancer and
we anticipate hundred’s more within the West Michigan supporting this event.
Our fundraising plan for Hockey Fights Cancer begins with player pledges/donations, and event t-shirts and
jersey sales. As a highlight, during the Weekend of February 11-12, 2017 all games played at Southside
(including Fox Motors Hockey, Byron Center Varsity, Catholic Central Varsity, and Aquinas College) will be
Hockey Fights Cancer games raising awareness and support for Van Andel Institute’s Purple Community. Also
during that weekend each Fox Motors team will prepare an item(s) for a raffle auction or silent auction to take
place during the multiple games the weekend of February 11-12. At the pinnacle of Hockey Fights Cancer will
be our All-Star Game on Sunday, February 12th @ 4:00 where many of our coaches (including Mike Knuble and
Travis Richards and multiple other former professional hockey players) will play a charity game against the Fox
Motors Midget Minor U16 hockey team (including Mike Knuble’s son – Cameron Knuble). All admission to this
game will be a donation to Purple Community. We will have a one-day only license to sell alcoholic beverages,
and will also hold reception featuring a dinner buffet immediately following the game along with open skate.
Again, all proceeds benefiting Purple Community.
Southside Ice Arena and Fox Motors Hockey Club are dedicated to the fight against cancer and we’d love your
help. We are seeking donations from local businesses to assist in covering the costs of event preparation, Tshirts, Player jerseys, gifts for cancer fighters, survivors, and in memory of those who have lost their battle, as
well as off-ice games and activities, event marketing and promotion, as well as event T-shirts we’d like to sell for
a donation at this event. Simply put, your donation will bring us closer to our goal. With the support of the Van
Andel Institute and Purple Community, our community is clearly excited and eager to see this project succeed.

presented, along with the gift to those being honored at Fox Motors Hockey Fights Cancer games.
Event Sponsor: $400.00 -$1,000.00 donation: your business will be listed as sponsor with company logo as sponsor on
Community Posters/Signs, and event promotional materials as well as our website and the at the Southside Ice Arena, and
at all Fox Motors Hockey Fights Cancer games.
Team Sponsor: $1,000.00+ donation: select any Fox Motors team (including the All-Star team) and sponsor that team’s
hockey fights cancer jerseys. Your business logo will appear on that team’s jerseys. You and your employees will receive
free admission to the All-Star game on February 12, 2017. Your company logo will also appear as a sponsor on Community
Posters/Signs and event promotional materials as well as on our website and at the Southside Ice Arena and on our Hockey
Fights Cancer event photo backdrop. Your business name will be included in that team’s Hockey Fights Cancer game
promotion.
