Small Grant guidelines for Winter Weather Agent Scheme

Small Grant guidelines for Winter Weather Agent Scheme
1. Who can apply?
Rural Parish Councils or volunteer community groups in North Yorkshire. This
year we are looking to target parishes in Richmondshire, Hambleton, Scarborough
and Ryedale.
2. What are the small grants for?
The small grants fund has been set up to give a little extra help to start up or pilot a
Winter Weather Agent Scheme within your rural community. Some
examples/ideas already explored include:





Setting up an emergency 4x4 rota to ensure that residents within your
community can get to urgent medical appointments if the village in snowed
in.
Finding if there are generators within your community in the event of a
power cut to ensure villagers who rely on electricity for medical equipment
are not left without a power supply.
Ensuring paths to vulnerable people within your community are cleared in
the event of snow and ice or simply keeping a clear path through the
community to the village shop or Doctors.
Identifying elderly residents within the community who would appreciate a
warm meal, some shopping done or the dog walking!
Offering a single point of contact for emergencies manned by a team of
village volunteers.
But essentially the scheme needs to address and respond to needs within your
community.
3. How much can be applied for?
£300
4. Is the application process difficult?
No, it is straightforward and is designed to communicate basic information rather
than to be an obstacle course.
5. Which bank account should the money go into?
It is up to the groups involved to come up with a workable system. The application
form asks that you give details of the bank account the grant would be paid into
and how the responsible groups will ensure it is spent in line with the grant
awarded. Receipts/invoices etc will need to be collected and available for
checking.
