It was very touching to see the teams wearing double black arm bands on
Saturday. With everyone standing on the pitch for a minute’s silence
before the game, it was a lovely tribute to a Phillip Hughes and Sibi.
Two young men tragically losing their lives before their time. Our thoughts and
prayers are with their families and friends.

And the dogs weren't disappointed when the opposition folded like a proverbial
pack of cards with the wickets being shared around. Kim with three, Shez, Bakes
and Jobin picking up 2 each.

Faced with a last placed Dianella, the mighty red dogs fancied their chances
against a rumored depleted line up.
We made short work of the runs chasing it down with 7 wickets in hand with Col
making 40 odd, Will finding some runs with 31 and Kapil with a typically
swashbuckling 20 odd. Also noteworthy was Cambo breaking a run of 3 ducks
with a 14 n.o.
Good hustle dogs!

Big round for all grades well done everyone! GO RED DOGS!
Third grade had a tough game on its hands from the start facing the second
placed team of the comp. We were under a bit of pressure with a few
disappointing batting performances over the last few weeks.
All geared up to have a bowl first this week, putting our best foot forward and all,
then we lost the toss…again…but as luck would have it we got what we wanted
anyway. Things were looking up it seemed.
Despite university having a strong batting line up we were sparked into action
with a sharp piece of fielding from Hendo running out the more dangerous looking
opener with a direct hit! CARTWHEEL!
During the inning we had a few too many chances go down, but with the silver fox
Merv showing his class again this year with 3 wickets and few other good
performances by Caddy and Sammy with the ball we were able to bowl Uni out for
181.
A tough total to chase down any day. Which was made harder by a few quick
wickets. But then what ensued from there was pure batting destruction, in the
form of a six hitting machine (I think I’m gonna hit 9 sixes today Suneeth) and a
self-proclaimed cricket God (Matty…bicep kiss, bicep kiss). Words can’t really
express the amazement and awe that was Suneeth’s innings of 98, no one was
safe within a 90m radius of him. Backed up by a just as impressive gritty innings
of gap hitting at the other end from Matty 59 no. Putting the icing on the cake at
the end was Merv with an aggressive 21.
It was a win that we sorely needed to boost our confidence and get us back on
track. Look out Belmont the big dogs are on the hunt! Woof, Woof!

Carlisle 8/152 defeated Ascot 8/147

7th Grade – Darryl Jago
Carlisle 10/151 defeated Mt Lawley-Inglewood
We won the toss and sent Mt Lawley into bat. After a slow start from both teams,
us not getting wickets and them not taking runs we were at a bit of a stalemate.
Shakti and Alwin wicketless after 11 overs so I decide to bring myself into the
attack, with immediate success. After taking 2 wickets from 8 overs and Darrell
Nelson supporting from the other end and picking up 1 for 20 odd we sort of got
on top.( Even thou the apprentice umpires we keep getting are getting worse and
not better are not helping). In the end Mt Lawley ended 40 overs @ 4/146.
Now for the run chase, Jowsey out for a DUCK 5th ball of the 1st over, not the
start I was looking for. Enter Ray Smith, off the mark straight away and keeps
strike (damn). After 4 overs Ray is on 19 and I am yet to score. I finally get on
strike only to have their opening bowler (Humphries) land it on the spot for me to
get my first runs, a boundary followed by the next 3 deliveries which went for the
same result, 16 of that over HA HA. After a 2nd wicket partnership of 64, I got out
followed shortly after by 1/2 of the batting line up. Yes another Carlisle collapse.
So from 2/64 to 8/85 it looked like our 1st loss was near. But with Darrell Nelson
16* and Alwin Vargihese 20 putting on 46 for the last wicket got us over the line,
much to the disgust of our opposition.
So to sum it up YES 7th grade are STILL UNDEFEATED woohoo. Looking forward
to Leederville this week. And congrats on all teams winning last week, lets go back
to back lads. Cheers all.
