utility uniform MAY be worn during Exhibition Drill events. Drone teams must wear open
collar uniform designated to their branch. Marksmanship teams may wear khakis and their

1.
TASK: To measure the cadet’s physical fitness.
2.
CONDITION: During daylight under safe weather conditions wearing BDUs or other fatigue uniform.
3.
STANDARD: Team consistency for this event is FOUR (4) cadets. No alternate is authorized once the
test has begun. The team must finish both 2 events with the same (4) cadets that started the event.

5. SCORING:
Each correct Push-up Counts as 1 point
Each correct Sit-up Counts as 1 point
a.
Score cadets using the Air Force Matrixes for their gender.
Each cadet needs to do the most that they can correctly with the following time limit. If they are not
performed correctly they will not be counted. (PUSH-UPS: 1 mins, SIT-UPS: 1 mins)
c.
Team placement will be determined by highest team score.
d.
If a cadet becomes injured during any of the two events and cannot continue, no substitution will be
authorized. The team score will reflect the last event the injured cadet completed and that partial score
will be added to the overall team score. All raw scores will be calculated for a total score and then all 4
total scores will be added together for a team score. The team with the highest total score will be
declared the winner in this event.
TASK: Perform the push-up event for the Raider challenge Physical Fitness Test
37
CONDITION: On a flat dry surface conduct as many correct push-ups as possible in one (1) minutes. This
event will be conducted outdoors (when weather permits) on the host school's track (grass). There will be
one scorer for each tester at this station. All scorers will be on a single line with a minimum of five(5)feet
spacing between scorers. This is known as the test line. The ready line will be a minimum of 10 ft behind the
test line with all cadets in a single line behind a scorers test line facing away from the testing cadet.
STANDARDS: The event supervisor must read the following: “THE PUSH-UP”
THIS EVENT MEASURES THE ENDURANCE OF THE CHEST, SHOULDER, AND TRICEPS MUSCLES. ON THE
COMMAND ‘GET SET,’ ASSUME THE FRONT-LEANING REST POSITION BY PLACING YOUR HANDS WHERE THEY
ARE COMFORTABLE FOR YOU. YOUR FEET MAY BE TOGETHER OR UP TO 12 INCHES APART. WHEN VIEWED
FROM THE SIDE, YOUR BODY SHOULD FORM A GENERALLY STRAIGHT LINE FROM YOUR SHOULDERS TO YOUR
ANKLES. ON THE COMMAND ‘GO,’ BEGIN THE PUSH-UP BY BENDING YOUR ELBOWS AND LOWERING YOUR
ENTIRE BODY AS A SINGLE UNIT UNTIL YOUR UPPER ARMS ARE AT LEAST PARALLEL TO THE GROUND. THEN,
RETURN TO THE STARTING POSITION BY RAISING YOUR ENTIRE BODY UNTIL YOUR ARMS ARE FULLY
EXTENDED. YOUR BODY MUST REMAIN RIGID IN A GENERALLY STRAIGHT LINE AND MOVE AS A UNIT WHILE
PERFORMING EACH REPETITION. AT THE END OF EACH REPETITION, THE SCORER WILL STATE THE NUMBER
OF REPETITIONS YOU HAVE COMPLETED CORRECTLY. IF YOU FAIL TO KEEP YOUR BODY GENERALLY STRAIGHT,
TO LOWER YOUR WHOLE BODY UNTIL YOUR UPPER ARMS ARE AT LEAST PARALLEL TO THE GROUND, OR TO
EXTEND YOUR ARMS COMPLETELY, THAT REPETITION WILL NOT COUNT, AND THE SCORER WILL REPEAT THE
NUMBER OF THE LAST CORRECTLY PERFORMED REPETITION. YOU MUST RETURN TO, AND PAUSE IN, THE
CORRECT STARTING POSITION BEFORE CONTINUING. IF YOU REST ON THE GROUND OR RAISE EITHER HAND
OR FOOT FROM THE GROUND, YOUR PERFORMANCE WILL BE TERMINATED. YOU MAY REPOSITION YOUR
HANDS AND/OR FEET DURING THE EVENT AS LONG AS THEY REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND AT ALL
TIMES.
THE FOLLOWING POINTS MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO STARTING EVENT:
-The cadets chest may touch the ground or mat provided the touch does not provide an advantage (I.E cadet
pauses as if resting in the down position)
-Repositioning of the hands and feet are authorized as long as the cadets hands or feet remain in
contact with the ground
-The feet may not be braced at any time during the push up event
38
Cadets may not cross their feet at any time during the push up event
TASK: Perform the sit-up event for the Raider challenge Physical Fitness Test
CONDITION: On a flat dry surface conduct as many correct sit-ups as possible in one (1) minutes. This
event will be conducted outdoors (when weather permits) on the host school’s track (grass). There
will be one scorer for each tester at this station. All scorers will be on a single line with a minimum of
five(5)feet of spacing between scorers. This is known as the test line. The ready line will be a
minimum of 10 feet behind the test line with all cadets in a single line behind a scorers test line facing
away from the testing cadet. In the event of inclement weather, the sit up event may be conducted
indoors.
The event supervisor must read the following: “THE SIT-UP”
This event measures the endurance of the abdominal and hip-flexor muscles. On the command “get set”,
assume the starting position by lying on your back with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle. Your feet may
be together or up to 12 inches apart. Another person will hold your ankles with the hands only. No other
method of bracing or holding the feet is authorized. The heel is the only part of your foot that must stay in
contact with the ground. Your hands must be flat on your chest and can not come off of your chest. On the
39
command “go”, begin raising your upper body forward so that your elbows touch anywhere from your thigh
to your knees. Once your elbows touch anywhere from your thigh to your knees, lower your body until the
bottom of your shoulder blades touch the ground. Your head, or elbows do not have to touch the ground. At
the end of each repetition, the scorer will state the number of sit-ups you have correctly completed.
A repetition will not count if you fail to touch anywhere from your thigh to your knees, fail to keep your
hands on your chest, arch or bow your back and raise your buttocks off the ground to raise your upper body,
or let your knees exceed a 90-degree angle. If a repetition does not count, the scorer will repeat the number
of your last correctly performed sit-up. The up position is the only authorized rest position. If you stop and
rest in the down (starting) position, the event will be terminated.

2.
CONDITION: Teams will pick a cadet from the team to be on the litter, during daylight hours, and
under existing weather conditions. Each team will consist of four (4) raiders, uniform will be fatigues.
3.
STANDARD: One cadet will lay down on the litter while the other team members transport the

case of a tie: First tiebreaker: the team who did not acquire any penalties during the course will be declared
the winner. In the event the tied teams had penalties, the team with the least penalty time will be declared
the winner. If all the previous tie breakers are considered or if neither team had penalties and a tie remains
the team with the fastest averaged 5k will be declared the winner.
5.
EQUIPMENT: The host school will provide a litter for each lane used, an obstacle course, and
predetermined obstacles throughout the course.
6. Script – The grader will brief the team captain only.
Sample brief, “At this station your team will be

sheet to the runner assigned to each event area. The runner will ensure all score sheets are correctly filled out and immediately deliver
all score sheets to the official scorekeeper.
D.
Protest. All judges will be thoroughly briefed on the Aero meet procedures and rules outlined in this SOP. Judging is a
subjective process, and it is only natural that some complaints may arise. Should a complaint occur, the Senior JROTC Instructor
representing the school involved must submit a written protest within 15 minutes of the particular event in question to the school’s
escort, who will bring it to the Official Score Keeping area. The protest will be reviewed by Wando’s Staff and the Head Judge for
that event, and appropriate action will be taken. Decisions rendered in this manner will be final.
E.
Events. The following events are open to all schools. All events are included in the overall score.

Scoring.
a.
Event Scores. Scores will be assessed by Wando. The judges of each event will fill out one grading card per judge for each
school competing. The score of these cards will be added together to attain the total score of the event. Penalties may only be
presented by Major John Farese.
b.
Event-Level Ties. Ties will be assessed by Wando. If a tie should occur for an event, the procedure for determining place in the
event is as follows:
i.
The school scoring the highest in the “Skill” category for that event will be placed over the school with the lower score.
ii.
If the scores in the “Professionalism” category are the same, each movement’s score on the Head Judge’s score sheet will be
averaged, and the school with the highest average will be placed over the school with the lower average.
iii.
If the averages in the above section are the same, the Head Judge of the event will be asked to decide which school is
placed over the other one. When this rank is determined it shall be considered final.
c.
Overall Scores. Scores will be assessed by the cadets in the Official Score Keeping Area. The totals of each individual event
will be added together to form the final score, which will determine the overall first, second, and third place winners of Aero Meet.
As the scores are not averaged, it is imperative that all schools wishing to place overall compete in every event.
d.
Overall-Level Ties. Ties will be assessed by the cadets in Official Score Keeping Area. If a tie should occur in the overall
category, the procedure for determining place in the event is as follows:
i.
The “Skill” category score in each of the events in section E will be added together for each school, and the school with the
highest score will be ranked over the school with the lowest score.
ii.
Should the scores in the above section be the same, the total scores in each event in section E will be averaged together for
each school, with a zero given as the score for any event not competed in, and the school with the highest average will be placed over
the school with the lowest average.
iii.
Should the averages be the same in the above section, the senior judge of the event will be asked to consult his
subordinates and make a decision on which team should be placed above the other. When this rank is determined it shall be
considered final.
G.
Uniforms. The military open collar regulation uniform of the service represented will be worn by the cadets. There will be a 20-
point deduction in your overall score for violations of this rule.
52
H.
Equipment. Because the Aero Meet is an open competition for JROTC units of every service, a variety of drones and rockets
are expected, with each having both advantages and disadvantages. The grading emphasis will be on how well a particular maneuver
is performed. For all drone related events, a different pilot is required to fly the courses. Each school is responsible for all of their
equipment and parts also if equipment is left in the schools assigned room make sure as least 1 person is watching their equipment.
I.
Penalties. The following actions can and will result in a quantitative penalty toward the team’s final score:
a.
Approaching any judge or event official with intent to influence the outcome or the operation of the aero meet or to coerce the
judge or official in any manner
b.
