The Legacy of Katoya S. Moore
“Lady Rhythm”
A wonderful precious life came into being on May 28, 1978 in Stockton, CA. To the parentage of Cheryl S.
Spivey & Eric Moore, was born a beautiful baby girl who they named Katoya Shyree Moore.
Katoya was raised in the city of Stockton, CA where she obtained her education. She attended James Monroe
Elementary School & Hamilton Middle School where she developed her love for the drums. She graduated from
Franklin High School in 1996(Yellow Jacket). Then she moved to the city of Sacramento, CA where she
attended Sacramento State College. There she received her Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Then she
attended Sacramento City College where she received two AA’s one in Liberal Studies & one in Music Audio
Production & Music Business Management and she also has received numerous Certificates. In April 2004 she
became a Phi Theta Kappa . Katoya’s Passion was teaching children, her Motto was: “To Empower, To
Enrich, To Enlighten” In 2011 she started her company Drummer’s with Education which taught children
about percussion and helped to develop character education. She was so proud of her drum line. In 2013 they
won "Best in Show" in the Fulton Arden 4th of July Parade. Katoya performed with many bands throughout
Sacramento and was the beloved leader of the” Mo ‘Blues” Band.
Katoya attended Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Henry Leonard,
where she was baptized & was a faithful drummer and base player. In 2005 she joined the Second Chance
Christian Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Floyd D. Gray where she was a faithful base player. She
played for many churches. Katoya always said “a idle mind is the devil's workshop” she was an entrepreneur
she sold EVERYTHING to make life possible. She was the life of the party there was never a dull moment
shared with Katoya. She had a smile that would light up a room; she was a comedian in her own right. Katoya
cared for everybody and believed everyone deserved a Second Chance.
On September 13, 2013, God looked down and seen one of His Flowers withering away so he sent His angels
by Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA. To pick that precious flower name Katoya S. Moore waiting

“Drummers with Education”
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall
give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
II Timothy 4:7
We would like to take this time to say thanks for all you have done for us in our time of bereavement.
