INTRODUCTION
As law is rooted in culture, it is necessary for candidates that wish to study the law of a
third country to experience this culture first hand. The same applies for the economic
environment of a specific country. The only way to obtain first hand experiences with a
culture is to live among the people for a longer period of time. For the home university
the returning knowledge of this experience of the candidate is paramount for their
development.
Thus, The doctoral candidates will be expected to perform 2 recommended
training/research
periods
in
2
European
countries
and
1
recommended
training/research period in the third country partner university (in China or Russia).
Students choosing any of the law specific countries will have the opportunity to study
their mandatory mobility period in that country, strengthening the core study programme
for them specifically.
The destination of the mobility will largely depend on the subject chosen for the doctoral
degree by the individual student (Russian Economic Law, Indian Economic Law or
Chinese Economic Law). It is only logical that, for example, students of Chinese law will
go to China for their third country mobility period.
Mobility Strategy is intended to raise students’ awareness of study abroad opportunities
within the RUCHIN doctoral programme and to promote the benefits offered by this. This
document served a guideline for RUCHIN students, professors and administration
guiding doctoral students.
The strategy document includes:
Information of current study abroad opportunities
Mobility schemes in accordance with specialization of partner universities
Information on type of diplomas

A student finishes his/her doctoral thesis and defends it at home
institution. Submission can occur anytime during this period.
Students are advised to formulate a doctoral thesis topic in consultation with an advisor
during the course of their first year. The research topic will play an important role in the
mobility scheme for the individual candidate. Therefore, it is required to make the
decision during the first year as a student will be allowed to go to European and third
country partner institutions accordingly.
Each PhD student must attend courses corresponding to 60 ECTS by choosing
advanced courses offered by institutions indicated in his personalized study plan from
the 1st to 5th semester. For every course, PhD students must pass an examination in a
form agreed upon with the professor. During the 6 th semester the student finishes the
thesis and defends it.
