The bingo caller will announce the name of the game and the paper color it is played on at the start of each game. Buy-In: A pre-made “pack” of assorted bingo games for a particular bingo session (i.e., regular, matinee, etc.). On a typical day, San Manuel packages two sets of 15 multi-colored Regular-Session games (six-ons), three jackpot games, an admission ticket, and a door stub. This “pack” is sold at a given price and is generally required to participate in some bingo sessions or play certain jackpot games. Crazy: A bingo pattern that rotates in 90-degree increments. Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Jackpot: Our famous unlimited jackpot played at the close of Regular-Session games. You pick your own numbers. Double Action: A bingo card that has two numbers in each square. Players only need one number to complete the square. Since each card has twice as many numbers as a regular bingo card, you get double the daubing action! Also called Dual Daub. Easyway: A bingo pattern that includes the “Free” space. In Double and Triple Bingo Games, it allows the four outside corners to count as a bingo. Faces: The number of cards per bingo sheet. Hardway: A bingo pattern that does not include the “Free” space. Odd/Even: The first ball called determines if odd or even numbers are wild. If the first ball is an odd number, all of the odd numbers are marked out (1, 3, 5, 7, etc.). The same idea applies if the first ball is an even number. See Wild # below. On for the Money: You may hear someone say “I’m on!” This means they only need one more number to BINGO! 4 Six-Ons/Three-Ons: The number of faces or cards on a colored playing sheet. A six-on has 6 bingo cards per sheet and a three-on has 3 bingo cards per sheet, etc. Wild #: Some bingo games are played with wild numbers. When a wild # is used, a player marks (daubs) all the numbers that end with the wild #. For example, if the caller announces that the wild # is “33”, the player marks out all of his/her numbers that end in a “3” (3, 13, 23, 33, 43, 53, 63, 73). Examples of Bingo Patterns OR Block of 9 Corners Block of 6 OR Block of 4 Triple Dot HOW TO PLAY BINGO Each player has bingo cards with 24 random numbers ranging from 1 to 75 and placed in columns headed by the letters B, I, N, G, O. There is also one “Free Space”, located in the middle of each card. Numbers and letters are marked on bingo balls, which are pulled from a blower by the caller, then announced. Players having a called number on their cards, daub (mark out) the corresponding square. When your numbers match the specified bingo pattern you yell “BINGO”. Your marked numbers will begin to form patterns or pictures. When your pattern matches the caller’s displayed image (or program image) you yell “BINGO” to stop the caller. Your bingo card will be verified to see if your pattern is valid. Remember to yell loud so the caller can acknowledge you. 5 FIRST TIME PLAYER If you are a first time bingo player, here are some tips to help you get started: •A rrive at least one hour before the games start. This will give you enough time to ask questions and go over the bingo basics. •P re-mark your bingo cards with a highlighter, pen, or different color dauber. Some games require you to get a specific pattern, like the letter “Z”, that can be drawn on the card. This will help keep you focused on the numbers needed to form the winning pattern. QUESTIONS Feel free to ask for assistance. Bingo staff will be available to show you how to play. Just ask any of our friendly staff, or let us know that you are new and ask about our beginner pack.
