Description of HEI
Ferghana State University is one of the old and leading
universities of Uzbekistan. Over 80 years it trains highly
qualified specialists in different spheres of the economy and
the education system, conducts research work on
fundamental areas of science. Ferghana State University was
founded on May 1, 1930 as the Fergana Higher Pedagogical
Institute. On the base of Resolution of the Cabinet of
Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated on February 5,
1991 "Establishment of the Ferghana State University"
Fergana Pedagogical Institute was given the status of the
Fergana State University. Since that time there have been
major structural changes in the system of the university. New
faculties, departments and several specialties were opened.
Within 1991-1992 years, Ferghana State University began
training on the following new fields: sociology, psychology,
law, management of natural resources and the environment,
economics and management, economics and social planning,
bio-medical devices. Nowadays, the University has nine
faculties: Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, Faculty
of Physics and Mathematics, Faculty of Pedagogy, Faculty of
Social-Economics, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Basic
Military Training, Faculty of History and Faculty of Physical
Education. In 2000, the university opened a Master's degree
on specializations: Differential Equations, Human and Animal
Physiology, Botany, Inorganic Chemistry, Theoretical Physics,
Economics, Literature, Linguistics, History, Methods of
Sociological Research. Ferghana State University participated
in two TEMPUS projects: “EuTraCeFer” (European-Uzbek
Training Centre for vocational teachers in Ferghana) (20072009), “UnIvEnt: Enhancement of role of universities in
transfer of innovations into enterprise” (2010-2013).

Ferghana State University has experience in the Tempus program. In the framework
of these projects it collaborated with European partners from Germany, Spain, Italy,
Portugal.
The University has no relations with the universities of UK and would like to
cooperate with them in order to study their experience in the field of education.
We would like and ready to work together by the exchange of students, masters,
researchers and teachers in all areas which functioning in our university.
We are interested in inviting lecturers from universities in the UK to give lectures in
English language and English literature, mathematics, economics, psychology,
history and pedagogy.
