Shorewood Farmers’ Market
The Shorewood Farmers’ Market (SFM), an open-air farmers market
located in the heart of the Village of Shorewood, WI aims to promote
and provide public access to fresh and healthy Wisconsin food
products, support the local economy and to enhance the sense of
community in Shorewood. The inaugural 2015 market is supported by a
grant from the Shorewood Community Foundation in partnership with
the Village of Shorewood and Shorewood School District.
When & Where
The Shorewood Farmers’ Market will be held at the playground pad and parking lot of Atwater
Elementary School (2100 E. Capitol Dr., Shorewood WI 53211), just north of the intersection of
Capitol Drive and Murray Avenue). The market will be open 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. every Sunday
from June 28, 2015 through November 1, 2015 (19 weeks).
The Market Manager will be on hand every Sunday to oversee all operations of the market, and
to help vendors and customers.
Who May Sell
Vendor stalls will be rented only to Wisconsin-based businesses, food growers or producers.
The market reserves the right to inspect, with 48 hours advance notice provided to the vendor,
the property on which a vendor’s products are grown or produced. No brokers, agents, or
commissioned sellers may sell. No subleasing of vendor stalls. Exceptions may be approved on
a case-by-case basis.
Vendors must have a current farmers market license from the Northshore Environmental Health
Consortium. A copy of the application is attached to the Shorewood Farmers Market
Application. For assistance or questions, contact Brad Simerly at 414.371.2986. You must also
provide a copy of your Wisconsin Seller’s permit or social security number with your application.
Vendors selling non-consumable items (i.e. flowers) must provide a copy of their Wisconsin
Seller’s permit or social security number with your application.
Market staff will provide vendor information to the Department of Revenue in accordance with all
state laws. Please call the Wisconsin Department of Revenue at 608.266.2776 for more
information on obtaining a Wisconsin Seller’s Permit.
What May Be Sold
Products must be pre-approved for sale at the market. Acceptable products include agricultural
products (e.g., plants/seeds, fruit, vegetables, dairy, eggs, herbs, meats, spices, cut flowers),
prepared food products (e.g., jellies/jams, honey, baked goods), and nonalcoholic beverages.
The SFM reserves the right to accept or reject products to balance the offerings at the market.
Once approved for the market, vendors may only offer additional products with advance written
approval from the SFM.
Vendor Fees
Vendor fees are $25 per day or $150 for the 19-day season from June 28 – November 1, 2015.
Payment is due by June 15, 2015, no exceptions.
Rental fees for the 2015 market are as follows, per 10’ x 10’ vendor stall:
● $150 for the season or $25 per week.
● $50 for an additional 10’ x 10’ adjacent vendor stall.
Vendor stalls will be assigned by market staff based on when applications are received and to
ensure a good flow for customers through the market. Seasonal vendors are given guaranteed
spot placement. Daily vendors are required to call or email the market manager at 414.502.7164
or [email protected] by the Wednesday before the market you plan on
attending to see if there are available spots. The daily vendor fee will be collected at the market.
Stalls are non-transferable, and no more than two stalls may be requested. Applications for
seasonal vendors are due by May 15, 2015.
Liability
The SFM carries general commercial liability insurance through the Village of Shorewood.
Vendors are responsible for their own personal and product liability insurance. Vendors must
provide the SFM with a Certificate of Insurance within five business days of their first day of
participation with the market.
To participate with the SFM, vendors must agree to protect, indemnify, and hold harmless, the
SFM, the Village of Shorewood, Shorewood School District, Shorewood Community
Foundation, the Market Manager and other SFM volunteers from and against any and all
causes of action, claims, demands, suits, liability, or expense by reason of loss or damage to
any property or bodily injury to any person, including death, as a direct or indirect result of use
of any rented or occupied market space or in connection with any action or claim or omission of
the vendor who shall defend the named released parties in such cause of action or claim.
Other Rules
● Other than service animals for individuals with disabilities, dogs and pets are not
permitted on market premises.
● Vendors may begin setup at 8:00 a.m. and must be completed by 9:45 a.m. Market
opens at 10:00 a.m.
● Vendors are responsible for providing items (tables, chairs, tents, etc.) required for
setting up their stalls.
● Vendors must remain open for the entire market, or until their products sell out.
● Vendors must vacate their stalls no later than 2:00 p.m. Market closes at 1:00 p.m.

Vendors are expected to clean up their stalls after each market. Unsold products and
waste materials must be removed from the market and should not be placed in Atwater
Elementary School trash bins or dumpsters.
During the market, vendors must display a sign with the name and address of their
business. They must also purchase and display a Wisconsin Seller’s permit.
All produce shall be sold by legal weights and measures. Vendors are responsible for
having any scales they use certified for compliance.
Vendors are requested to provide the Shorewood Farmers Market at least 48 hours
advance notice if they cannot sell at the market on a given week.
