CUC Primary Football League
CUC Girls Football League
On Saturday, the CIS Boys U9 football team secured spot in the Champions Cup playoffs and a
coveted place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over North East Schools. Despite facing an under strengthened North East Schools team, the Iguanas struggled in the first half to find the
passing rhythm which has been their hallmark all season. At half time, the score was goal-less,
largely due to an excellent save from Paul M. After some effective redirection from Coach
Greg, the second half showed significant improvement with Danny L dominating the midfield
and starting both moves which led to goals. The first, with a defense splitting pass to Chad M;
and the second to set up Toby J to fire in from distance. The defense faced some challenges but
was able to keep the ball out of the goal, with Eamon D delivering an especially strong performance.
The U11 Girls Football team was victorious
this past Saturday, January 16, against Triple
C! Kayla B made two assists for the game to
Riley D, scoring the first goal and Alexia B on
the second.
Results elsewhere meant that CIS finished atop the
standings with 10 points after 4 games and a superior
goal difference, a tremendous achievement given the
quality of the other teams. Next up is Cayman Prep in
the semi-final, scheduled for 10: 00 a.m. on Saturday,
January 23, at the Annex.
Please come out and support the boys. Go Iguanas!
Their win has advanced them to the league
semi-finals! Please come cheer them on at
11:15 a.m. at the Annex this Saturday, January 23.

Faculty Fitness
Digicel Junior Golf Series
There is a group of teachers dedicated to improving their physical and
mental health by exercising in the early morning before school. They
are at school before 6:00 a.m. and go through a regimen of exercises
that prepares them for the day ahead, as well as keep them physically
fit. According to research presented by the American College of
Sports Medicine, workers’ quality of work, mental performance and
time management were better on days when they exercised. The
study found that work performance was constantly and considerably
higher, as measured by: (1) their ability to manage time demands, (2)
their ability to manage output demands and (3) their mental and interpersonal performance. More teachers have jumped on board the
workout wagon to enhance their performance in and out of the classroom. Because of this, the group needs some more equipment, mainly in the form of dumbbells. If you have pairs of dumbbells that you
would like to donate to the cause, the teachers would really appreciate them! Please contact Mr. John for more information at
[email protected].
Brothers and CIS students, Justin and Andy H topped the leader board in 18
Hole White Tees and the Boys 18 Hole Red Tees, respectively, in the fourth
round of the Digicel Junior Golf Series. Another CIS student, Tom D, placed
3rd in the Boys 18 Hole Red Tees.
The fourth of six rounds held at North Sound Golf
Course saw 30 young golfers take to the course in
tough, blustery conditions. The format of the competition was stroke play as preparation for the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships this summer. The fifth round will be held on February 21.
Congrats to our CIS students and we wish them
continued success in the sport.
